Tea addicts.
What is that thing you know you are too attached to or addicted to? That thing you can't think well before you take it or do it?
Personally, I used to have a tea addiction ( I know am not alone). But its not anymore. Why? I made a choice not to let tea control my drinking pleasure.
The generation we have are addicts. Addicts to phones, addicts to fashion, addicts to screens (cartoons, soap operas), addicts to online, addicts to partying, addicts to gambling and gaming, addicts to drugs, addicts to make-up or anything you can think of. A good percentage are addicts to phones (including parents), screen, online, drugs and gambling.
When it comes to workplaces, we still have addicts. Addicts to lateness, addicts to excuses, addicts, salary advances etc. Even in church we have them. They can't carry a Bible, they use their phones, earphones. Where are we heading?
As a parent, am concerned. Because, addiction adds no value. It only affects one's mental health outcome.
Addiction can be defined as a compulsive dependence on a substance eg drug or alcohol or a behavior eg gambling and gaming. It involves a loss of control and negative consequences.
So, what's that controlling you? Is it the phone, gaming, gambling, drugs/alcohol etc. How long will you be into that slavery? Even the Bible says that whatever you hold too much to your heart is a god. In other words , you are a slave to it.(will post the verse later)
The only and best solution is a CHOICE. Begin by choosing the future you want for yourself. You have the power to change your life, so commit to recovery.
Overcoming addiction is a challenging journey, but it is entirely possible.
Lets commit ourselves to a positive mental health. Nice weekend.
