The Supply Chain Technical Support Mechanism for NTD medicines (SCTSM) project team is honoured to be participating in the Integrated Workshop on Data Collection, Reporting and Utilization for Preventive Chemotherapy NTDs taking place this week in Brazzaville, Congo.

This workshop brings together NTD stakeholders to speak the language of data collecting, analysing, interpreting, and using it to inform programmatic decisions.

The team is also facilitating several sessions throughout the week. Kicking off on Day 1, our very own Vicent Manyilizu took participants through tools used to collect NTD program data and the challenges associated with data collection and use. He later led a dynamic plenary discussion on data elements to prioritise for integration into national HMIS and LMIS discussions that will support NTD programs in making timely, evidence-informed implementation decisions.

Weโ€™re pleased to see project-supported countries Kenya, Madagascar, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Tanzania contributing meaningfully by sharing their experiences and lessons learned.

Many thanks to ESPEN for the invitation and the impactful workshop.

Ever wonder how Kenyan counties are making informed decisions on which life-saving medicines to buy when budgets fall short of demand?

Meet the Strategic Resource Management Tool (SRMT), the data-informed solution helping counties make transparent, effective, and impactful decisions on health product allocation and prioritization.

From facility-level forecasts to stock data and essential medicine classifications, SRMT enables counties to ensure that limited resources are directed towards the most impactful health products, reducing stockouts and improving health outcomes.

As part of efforts to improve the effectiveness and responsiveness of Nigeriaโ€™s Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) supply chain, the Supply Chain Technical Support Mechanism (SCTSM) Project, implemented by JSI and inSupply Health facilitated the introduction of the IMPACTT Approach to key national stakeholders during the Q3 2025 Technical Working Group meeting held in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

IMPACTT (Information Mobilized for Performance Analysis and Continuous Transformation Team) is a people-centered, data-driven approach designed to improve supply chain performance collaboratively through resolving root causes of supply chain bottlenecks. By introducing this approach to the NTD SC-TWG, a national coordination body of technical experts and partners, the project aims to improve accountability, collaboration, visibility, and supply chain performance across all levels.

This interactive session brought together key actors from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Nigeria, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE, and implementing partners. Notable participants included Dr. Fatai Oyediran (NTD National Coordinator), Pharmacist Taye Ologun (TWG Co-Chair), Pharmacist Damian Agbo (SCM Unit Head), Dr. Nicholas Olobio, and several program managers from the NTD Division.

We look forward to seeing how the IMPACTT approach strengthens decision-making, enhances coordination, and drives better health outcomes for communities affected by NTDs.

The Supply Chain Technical Support Mechanism (SCTSM) project, implemented by JSI and inSupply Health, developed a three-year forecasting tool to improve the demand planning for Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) preventive chemotherapy (PC) commodities used in Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaigns.

In 2024, eight project countries used the tool to generate forecasts for five PC commodities, which were presented at the NTD Supply Chain Forum in Geneva. Based on user feedback, the tool was enhanced with epidemiological modeling and integration of the Schisto Workbook, allowing for more precise long-term projections.

Last week, in collaboration with the Tanzania Ministry of Health, we piloted the updated tool to assess its functionality, logic, and usability in a real-world setting. Their feedback will inform final refinements ahead of the toolโ€™s rollout to support PC forecasts for 2027โ€“2029.

Strong supply chains start with skilled health workers. Weโ€™re proud to celebrate Aminu Alkasim Abdullahi, Monica Muthoni and Dr Simiyu Robert for successfully completing all five components of the Health Facilities Supply Chain Management core curriculum.

Their achievement reflects a strong commitment to strengthening supply chains through practical, hands-on skills. As they apply this knowledge in the field, they are helping build more resilient and efficient systems and, ultimately, advancing better health outcomes.

Maureen Ongaroโ€™s story highlights the transformative impact of DMPA-SC, a self-injectable contraceptive that offers women greater control, privacy, and convenience in managing their reproductive health.

Through the Injectable Access Collaborative project, over 48,000 women in five counties have accessed DMPA-SC in just one year, with more than 7,600 opting to self-inject.
