*How to Overcome Overthinking.*

1. *_Find a distraction_*. Distract your thought patterns.

2. *_Keep the Focus on Problem-Solving._* Dwelling on your problems is not helpful, but looking for solutions is.

3. Recognize automatic negative thoughts and switch them with positive ones.

4. *_Challenge your thoughts_*. Take a step back and look at the evidence you have. What evidence do you have that your thought is true? What evidence do you have that your thought isn’t true?

5. Do something nice for someone else. Helping someone can help you put things in perspective.

6. *_Practice reflection._* Use reflection time to address any issues in your mind.

7. *_Acknowledge your successes._* Count your blessings to see reasons to be happy and hopeful.

8. *_Learn mindfulness skills._* Mindfulness will help you become more aware of the here and now.

9. Consider other viewpoints.

10. *_Take action_*. You are overthinking because you aren’t taking any concrete actions about a certain situation.

11. *_Change the Channel_*. change the channel in your brain by changing your activity. Exercise, engage in conversation on a completely different subject, or work on a project that distracts you.

12. *_Practice self-compassion_*. Do not dwell on your past mistakes. Dwelling on past mistakes keeps you from letting go and moving on.

13. *_Train your Brain_*. Paying attention to the way you think can help you become more aware of your bad mental habits. With practice, you can train your brain to think differently.
