At the Kisumu Children’s Remand Home, we held a dance showcase to celebrate the children’s progress over the quarter.

Through movement, they expressed themselves and shared their story. We recognized their performances with awards, celebrating their effort and growth.

Providing spaces for creative expression is key to supporting rehabilitation. When we nurture their talents and acknowledge their progress, children begin to reclaim their identity and imagine a future full of possibility.

Our participants from Okiri Digital & Financial Literacy Project recently visited LAKEHUB, where they got to see how digital skills are applied in work environments.

For many, this was a moment of exposure, inspiration, and seeing what is possible in the digital space.

Our Q1 2026 Newsletter is here. 🌿

This quarter reflected a continued focus on creating consistent spaces where children and youth can engage, reflect, and grow.

Across our programs, over 400 young people participated in mentorship, skills development, and mental well-being initiatives. From school-based sessions under Jihimarishe to outdoor experiences through the Mind & Nature program, these engagements are strengthening confidence, connection, and self-awareness.

Creative work at the Kisumu Children’s Remand Home also remains an important part of this approach, offering structured spaces for expression and support.

Through our program Mind and Nature we hiked 9 kilometers through Maseno’s hills and rivers. Along the way, we snacked on guavas, laughed, and enjoyed being outside making friends

At the top, we played games and had honest conversations about mental health, issues affecting youth and the mental loads we carry every day.

Mind and Nature gives young people a chance to step away from stressful environments, connect with friends, and reflect. Experiences like the wellness hikes help youth recharge, build resilience, and support each other.

At the Kisumu Children’s Remand Home, we held a creative psychosocial support sessions in partnership with Dero Arts. We used the River of Life and Body Mapping to process the significant events that have shaped their journeys.

Providing a safe space to heal and reflect is an essential part of protecting a child’s right to a better future. When we support their mental well-being, we help them rediscover themselves and prepare for a new beginning.

This weekend, we hosted a community potluck as part of our Mind & Nature program, to share food, games, and meaningful conversations about psychological preparedness with the current state of the country.

We spent time discussing practical ways to manage stress, stay informed without burning out, and support our loved ones through difficult times.

Thank you to everyone who brought a dish, shared their thoughts, and filled the space with laughter and genuine care.

At the Kisumu Children’s Remand Home, our dance sessions brings young people together to release stress, build trust, and rediscover joy in their bodies.

Through rhythm and movement, they learn teamwork, self belief, and healthy ways to express emotions. These sessions form part of our wider commitment to psychosocial support, life skills, and positive development for children in conflict with the law.

Each step supports healing and reminds them that their stories continue.

Our Cohort 1 class of the Digital & Financial Literacy program stepped away from computers to engage in a dedicated Arts session led by our lead psychologist and director Achieng' Gloria

The session created a safe and engaging space where the youth were encouraged to express themselves, interact with others, and explore their creativity.

We are committed to building environments where children and youth feel supported, valued, and ready to lead.

was proud to partner with the to host a career mentorship session at Obinju Kanyakwar Primary School.

Our goal was to provide students with direct access to professionals who could share real-world insights and answer their burning questions. By fostering this dialogue early, we are equipping these students with the confidence and clarity they need to pursue their dream careers and contribute meaningfully to society.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to guide these brilliant young minds.
