Today, we celebrate the graduation of 5 incredible students from the Okiri Digital Literacy Project. Over the past three months, these young individuals have dedicated themselves to learning valuable digital skills, online safety, psychosocial support, and life skills.

We were honored to have Mr. Bovince Ochieng' the COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KISUMU Chief Officer for , Madam Christine Ong'anyo, a children's officer with the State Department of Children Services, and Mr. Kizito Omollo, lead trainer for the program join us. Their presence and insights, along with the support of parents and our partners, made this day truly memorable.

The Okiri Digital Literacy Project is a flagship program by Soulevement Kenya designed to transform the lives of young people aged 15-18 who are in conflict or contact with the law. By providing practical skills and support, we're helping them build a successful future and confidently transition back into society.

A huge congratulations to all our graduates! We are so proud of your hard work and can't wait to see all that you achieve.

This weekend, we hosted a rainbow picnic as part of our Mind & Nature Program.

&Nature is designed to support youth mental health by creating space for meaningful connection with nature. The program recognizes the deep link between time outdoors and emotional well-being, offering activities that encourage rest, reflection, and community.

The picnic gave young people a chance to sit together, talk about the burdens they carry, and exchange ideas on how to cope. Sharing in this way reminded everyone that support is stronger when it comes from community.

After the conversations, we enjoyed snacks and games that brought energy, laughter, and friendship. These activities created an atmosphere where everyone could feel included and connected.

Thank you to all who joined and made this picnic a place of warmth, openness, and genuine care.

As part of the program, youth engaged in presentation sessions where they shared their own projects with peers.

These sessions created space for them to practise public speaking, strengthen critical thinking, and build the confidence needed to communicate ideas clearly in any setting.

Strong communication is a core skill for education, employment, and community leadership. By practising it early, youth are preparing themselves for opportunities ahead and shaping the future they want to create.

Over the weekend, we held the second edition of , this time for men.

Across many communities, men often face social pressures that discourage them from speaking openly about stress, emotional fatigue, or the need for rest.

is aimed at providing a safe space and supportive opportunity for individuals to engage in critical reflection, raise issues, explore problems, and discover new ways of handling both situations and themselves.

By creating spaces for open dialogue, Soulevement Kenya supports men to build emotional awareness, strengthen peer connections, and integrate practices that protect mental health.

Participants in the Okiri Digital Literacy Programme engage in hands-on sessions designed to build essential digital skills.

Through this initiative, young people are gaining the knowledge they need to navigate, contribute to, and succeed in a digital-first world. Strengthening technological competencies is key to ensuring inclusion, expanding access to opportunity, and enabling full participation in today’s knowledge-driven society.

These skills are not only shaping brighter futures but also reinforcing pathways for reintegration and belonging.

From July 25th to 27th we travelled to Bondo for the second edition of , part of our Mind and Nature wellness program.

&Nature is designed to support youth mental health by creating space for meaningful connection with nature. The program recognizes the deep link between time outdoors and emotional well-being, offering activities that encourage rest, reflection, and real community.

We gathered around bonfires, swam in the lake, played games, and shared open, thoughtful conversations. These moments helped us slow down, listen deeply, and build community rooted in care and understanding.

Thank you to every participant who made this camp a space of warmth, rest, and reflection.

We returned to Majiwa Primary School and held a session with the children on the power of choice and their Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights.

We also distributed sanitary towels, part of the ongoing support we began in 2023, when we established peer-led support groups to help the children grow through listening, storytelling, and shared learning.

Through Soulevement Kenya child-centered work, we are walking with children in communities, offering tools for self awareness, resilience, and hope.

Over the weekend, we held our , a special event where we came together for a weekend of hiking, games, and powerful conversations around the bonfire. It was a reminder of the importance of creating safe spaces where young people can relax, connect, and share their thoughts openly.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported and participated in making this experience so meaningful.
