• Curative: These are services that involve attending to patients with acute illnesses,
including victims of accidents and disasters
• Preventive and promotive : These are services aimed at the public health aspects,
enabling the community to be free from common illnesses. They include: immunization, promotion of the use of nets to prevent malaria and hand washing. Such services strengthen community strategy by improving the community health units, building capacity of Community Health Workers (CHWs) to embrace current practices and activities. This service aims at substantially reducing communicable diseases, and subsequently, the health budget. KCH, therefore, aims at investing in preventive health strategies.
• Rehabilitative: These are follow-up services on patients of mental health and substance
abuse. Physiotherapy and occupational therapy also fall under this category of services.
• Training and research : This involves training medical officer students, clinical officers,
pharmacy students, nurses and other paramedical staff.
