Please help us get these kids back in school! The past two years have been a struggle due to COVID, but we have been able to keep everyone in school! However, every year there are more kids going into HS and they need support for new uniforms, books and materials! They will begin their new term in April 2022 and we have several students who will be taking their Standard 8 exams!

We have been working with Pastor Kimawachi since the beginning of the pandemic in Kenya to help make the orphanage safer and more secure for the children. Due to the pandemic, the children have all been at the home all the time. We believe that it would be a good idea to use this extra time wisely. Therefore, we are trying to raise some funding to hire teachers of specific trades, like sewing and masonry, to help them in their future. If you can make a donation towards this cause that would be awesome! Any amount helps. WE continue to try to support the Kitale Children's Home in Kenya and a group of folks from UUCCI is going there in November to work on a building project and bring some art as well. Please consider making a donation to help us continue this support of Pastor Kimawachi's efforts to house, clothe, feed, and educate the 30+ children that are there! Without our support he would not be able to continue and these children would be on the streets. Our goal is to continue to help them all become more self sufficient! Asante Sana~

The Sibanga Children’s Home

In October, eight members of the UUs of Columbus, Indiana, went to visit and support the children’s home. They helped with some infrastructure issues, brought some arts activities and games to play with the children, and learned more about the needs of each child, as well as the children’s home. Pastor Patrick Kimwachi and his wife, Phoebe, are the owners and caretakers of the children and the property on which it is situated, outside of Kitale, Kenya.

They are people with full hearts and intention in taking in children who have no one else to care for them, and who are often left on the streets to survive. The Sibanga Children’s Home provides these children, ages 7-19, a safe place to form family, go to school and grow into healthy adults who will contribute to Kenya’s future. We want to help the Kimwachis feel safe and secure in their efforts to keep all the children in school and improve/maintain the buildings and farm under their watchful eyes. They have no help from the government or any other groups, at the moment, so we are pushing every day to seek your support to help us help them.
