FREE Radicals – A Fact of Life
In recent years there has been a great deal of attention to free radicals. So, what is the big deal anyway? Is this really a concern for all of us?
This is a much bigger deal that most of us understand. Where ever there is life there are free radicals. By simply being alive you are generating these free radicals. As you breathe, as you digest food and as you exercise you are producing free radicals. You can also encounter even more through environmental factors such as sunlight, pollution, ci******es smoke and even fatty foods.
Without a doubt the one of the most important components of preventing degenerative disease or premature aging are free radicals, others being glycation and chronic inflammation. And these are also interrelated. Here we will address the free radicals. The real danger of these free radicals becomes evident when too many free radicals are created too quickly referred to as oxidative stress and has been linked to over 200 health issues from wrinkles on the skin to aging, cardiovascular disease and even Alzheimer’s disease.
Free radicals are created by oxidation (a process in which a chemical substance changes because of the addition of oxygen) and in excess they will accelerate your aging and lead to all sorts of negative health problems. Free Radicals are simply molecules with an electron missing and they travel around our bodies seeking out other chemical structures where they can steal an electron. Once they find and acquire an electron the chemical structure or tissue from where they stole that electron is left seriously damaged.
A molecule (typically highly reactive) with an unpaired electron that can damage cells, proteins, and DNA by altering their chemical structure. In your body there are trillions of cells and every second each cell has to fend off approximately 35,000 free radicals. If left unchecked free radical damage can add up significantly. It may seem like free radicals are unstoppable, but there actually is a way to keep them in check and stop them in their tracks. Antioxidants are the free radicals prevention and detection system for your body. They naturally neutralize free radicals and stop the oxidation processes before they damage your cells.
So where do you find antioxidants? To protect yourself your body naturally produces antioxidants as well as can be found in many foods, such as fruits, vegetables and also in vitamin C, A and E. But getting enough antioxidants is crucial for maintaining good health and slowing the aging process.
So, are you getting enough of the good stuff? Boosting your intake of just one type of antioxidant won’t do. You need the right combination of fat soluble antioxidants and water-soluble antioxidants as well as phenolic compounds. Also, fresh fruits and vegetables aren’t always available and today’s farming practices of our produce just doesn’t deliver the adequate amounts of nutrients that it did 50 years ago.
Even doctors recommend supplementing a healthy diet with optimal antioxidant support. With the correct supplements delivered in a way that your body can be used and absorbed properly can supply the protection your diet lacks giving optimal support for your eyes, skin, heart and every other vital system in your body.
Alert! Not all antioxidants are the same, so I am a huge advocate of science and research behind free radicals and the damage then can cause our bodies at the cellular level if unprotected with antioxidants. Preventative medicine has come a long way with the right combination of powerful, proven antioxidants to make a difference.
Everyone needs a broad-spectrum antioxidant for protection against these damaging free radicals. There is a patent-pending blend of powerful and proven completely natural antioxidants that not only neutralizes the free radicals but it also helps boost your immune system and promote younger, healthier skin, while protection your vital tissues and organs.
