In Kenya the median age of the population is 20 years today!

Children from informal settlements make a huge number of Individuals battling mental health issues due to exposure and challenges from the society they live in.
As part of my Kingdom Impact, we formed Stawi Program to address the mental health challenges that children face and help them navigate to healthy coping mechanisms, through psycho-educating them with tangible skills and building their resilience in tackling common issues that they may face as they navigate through various developmental processes.
For every client we get to see at a fraction of the proceeds helps a child from the informal settlements receive mental health care from a professional provider.

If you have ever tended to a garden you know that you cannot make plants grow by pulling their leaves. Or as the African proverb says, “grass doesn’t grow faster if you pull it.”
Instead, for a gardener to succeed, there is just only one option: create the best conditions to let the plants grow- and then nature them.
The belief here is that a naturing approach is not just an option in leadership; it is the only option. Leaders can create a healthy environment to support growth; they cannot simply force people to grow.
It is primary key for these leaders to take a people-focused angle in their leadership style and be emotionally intelligent. In today’s world… mental health in the work space is pivotal especially over employee retention and productivity.

Is your leader emotionally intelligent? Is your organization management style people-focused? Are there sustainable models around employee wellness?

Humans we tend to wear different personas and conceal our real emotion by portraying another emotion mostly these emotions can be sadness, loneliness, frustration or anger and we get to portray a positive emotion.

In the African context, the mask form was a physical mechanism to initiate transformation, whereby the wearer took a new entity allowing him to have influence on the spirits, either s/he was offering thanks to or appealing to. The individuals wearing them would surrender themselves and transform into a spiritual being.

In today’s world, many individuals we walk past wear various masks; the cool guy, the overachiever, the people pleaser, the control freak, the humorist, the bully and the list goes on and on, and some we share office space with them…

Do you know the mask you wear? Are you concealing any negative emotion? Are the pressures of this fast paced world making you to put on a mask?

When I saw these masks, I am reminded that we constantly need to probe ourselves to understand ourselves better. If you are concealing an inward negative emotion, I want to assure you that there is help, and you are not alone. It’s time to take off that mask and find the right healing to position you back to the right trajectory, and help you reach peak performance both in your workspace and personal life.
