Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale visited Samburu County to preside over the national celebrations marking World Blood Donor Day—a global recognition of millions of voluntary, unpaid blood donors whose selfless acts offered others a second chance at life.
This year’s theme, “Give blood, give hope: together we save lives,” underscored the power of solidarity in saving lives and aimed to deepen public awareness on the critical role of blood and plasma donations in patient care and community health.
Recognizing blood and its components as essential medical products, the Cabinet Secretary officially launched a Satellite Blood Centre at Samburu County Referral Hospital, alongside the county rollout of the Digital Health System. These efforts formed part of the ongoing investments by the Ministry of Health to accelerate the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) across Kenya.
The CS was hosted by Samburu County Government County government leadership led by H.E Governor Jonathan Lelelit, Women Rep Ms Pauline Lenguris, and joined by Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga, Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, SHA CEO Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, and Acting CEO Digital Health Agency Mr. Anthony Lenaiyara.
