SELFCARE :HEALTHY HABITS
Healthy habits are difficult to establish but they pay off latter in life.
E.g
1.Eating less salt can keep high blood pressure away.Do not add salt to your tasty and already cooked food.Excess salt can cause water retention in the Body because of Sodium and lead to hypertension.
2.Quiting Smoking to***co will keep away or lower the risk of many cancer such as throat cancer,Lung cancer etc. Reduce the number of ci**rs you use per day gradually and if need be use nicottain tablets or gums.Taking enough water can also reduce the Thirst or desire for To***co.
3.Stop use of alcohol.
This is a difficult decision but it will pay off later in life.Excessive use of alcohol causes liver damage and finally failure.Gradual reduction in amount of liquor can delay further damage to the liver especially in early stages of disease.Excessive use of alcohol also causes heart failure by caused enlargement of the heart.BEWARE BECAUSE IT COMES LATER AFTER PROLONGED USE OF ALCOHOL.
Alcohol has some benefits to the Body but those benefits are less than the risk it poses to human health especially in the Longterm. We encourage one to STOP and talk to a healthcare professional for more information on the RISKS involved with alcohol use.
4.Daily or Regular Exercises.
Including Exercises in our daily routines is the easier way to keeping physically healthy.30 minutes walk daily can help lower the risk for hypertension, diabetes,Cancer and other Non-Communicable diseases such as heart failure etc.
5.Balanced and appropriate diet.
There are foods which expose us to health risks.
Excessive Starch, fatty foods rich in bad cholesterol as well as processed foods are known to pose great threat to our health.
Fruits and vegetables are good to our health especially when included in our daily diets and taken right proportions.

WISHING YOU A GOOD HEALTH.

Kenya Healthcare professionals must embrace unity of purpose in addressing health care service delivery challenges.
All stakeholders must focus on the future of our healthcare system. This is what need to be addressed.
1.Rationalisation of Staffing needs according to international standards.(WHO recommendations).
2.Centralised Recruitment of all healthcare professional in Kenya.Healthcare being a devolved function has faced a lot of challenges with hired All the way from corruption, tribalism and unfairness with regard to year of graduation of the professional.I think it may be late to return healthcare to the National Government but we can establish structures to make sure that hiring is done by a centralised Authority and for all healhcare professionals so that we can improve all healthcare services. The County Government have no capacity to establishment such an Authority to guarantee that standards are followed in Recruitment as well as in the distribution of the healthcare workers.
Such an Authority can have representatives from M.O.H ,PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, COUNTY GOVERNMENTS,all regulatory bodies all the way from KMPDC,PSK,NURSING COUNCIL,C.O.C etc and all the Registered Unions so that Labour issues and professional matters can be handled together.
This will help us as a country to stabilise our healthcare by preventing strikes and labour disputes to guarantee the uninterrupted provision of healthcare.
Healthcare is an important part of any Country and should be handled with care so as to guarantee the future of our healthcare System.

Three dynamics of Healthcare financing.
1.Resource Mobilisation
2.Pooling together resources
3.Purchasing the services
We hope that the negotiations between the Government and the Healthcare workers is going on well.In the last few years Government through the NHIF has been focusing on how to better our Healthcare services in Kenya since good health is a right guaranteed in our 2010 Construction.
We have experienced challenges with resources from NHIF because of corruption and poor accountability.I would recommend that we take this time to put in place measures to safeguard our hard earned money even as we move towards SOCIAL INSURANCE Mode of financing.
Way Forward would be.
1.Let us mobilise as much resources by contributing equitably I.e according to income and ability to pay just like PAY AS YOU EARN.
2.Let us pool our resources together from Government,Kenyans and all partners.
3.Purchasing of Health services must give value for money. We cannot regulate prices especially in the private Hospitals but the cost of services must be justifiable.
Let most of our money go to improving infrastructure especially in our public Hospitals.
Private hospitals must be be accountable with regard to healthcare pricing especially for services paid by funds from SOCIAL Insurance.
Let us invest in the future of our health.
