An occupational therapist (OT) is a healthcare professional who helps people of all ages to perform daily activities, or "occupations," that are meaningful and important to them, especially when they are facing physical, mental, or developmental challenges. The goal of occupational therapy is to improve a person's ability to engage in everyday tasks, promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.

Hand of Benediction, Wrist Drop, and Claw Hand:

These are conditions that affect hand function, often resulting from nerve damage or injury:

Hand of Benediction: A condition where a person cannot fully extend the fingers, especially the 2nd and 3rd digits, when attempting to make a fist. It’s commonly caused by a median nerve injury.

Wrist Drop: This is when a person is unable to lift their wrist or extend their fingers, often due to radial nerve injury.

Claw Hand: This is characterized by hyperextension of the fingers, especially the 4th and 5th, and can result from ulnar nerve damage.

As an occupational therapist, I specialize in helping individuals manage and improve these conditions with personalized therapy.
