A. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

_Performs a variety of technical laboratory procedures according to Medical Center, laboratory and national standards board.
_ Ensure accurate completing of records and reports and other statistical information for master files or databases.
_ Adhere to laboratory policy for data retrieval, record keeping, specimen handling, identification, requisition and reporting procedures
_ Participates in EQA/IQC for area of specialty and Laboratory indicators.
_ Ensure patients results are well within the acceptable parameters before they are released
_ Ensure all out of control values are corrected and proper, timely communication done to all parties concerned
_ Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, environmental, health and occupational safety measures
_ Ensure planned preventive maintenance of equipment is done in liaison with Laboratory Manager and routine and accurate calibration of the equipment
_ Monitor turnaround time of results and manage referral specimens to other hospitals
_ Ensure maximum and cost-effective utilization of reagents and appropriate stocking of reagents and consumables.
_ Participate in continuous medical education programme of the department and regularly update the technologists with new and existing techniques
_Log test results to patients report forms , laboratory records and batch registers correctly and legibly
_ Check specimens as to their condition, acceptability, appropriateness to the test and exceptions
_Identify all critical values and report promptly to the Doctor
_ Conduct competence evaluation test as per the standard competence evaluation procedure

_Prepare, dispense and review prescriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
_Monitor inventory levels and ensure the availability of essential medicines.
_Maintain records of all medications dispensed and controlled substances.
_Provide guidance on the safe use of medications to patients and healthcare professionals.
_Assess patient history to prevent adverse drug interactions.
_Educate patients on dosage, side effects and potential interactions of prescribed medications.
_ Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulations and national healthcare guidelines.
_Participate in drug safety programs and report adverse drug reactions.
_Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new drugs and treatment protocols.
_ Work alongside clinicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to optimize treatment plans.

_Responsible for all the day-to-day Clinician duties and responsibilities
_Order investigation and interpretation of results for diagnosis and explain the results to the patients and the intended treatment.
_Diagnose and institute appropriate treatment, write prescriptions and carry out other treatment activities while ensuring that established treatment protocols are effectively followed.
_ Ensure that all required observations and vitals, prescribed treatment and procedures are carried out and documented.
_Create phenomenal patient experiences, including counseling and sensitizing patients through health talks on preventive and promotive health.
_ Embrace, learn and develop in an evidence-based medical system in line with Wellcare Diagnostic Center Hospitals’ protocols.
_ Ensure effective clinical procedures, rules, regulations which are consistent with the hospital’s procedures.
