The Fear of the Unkown can be debilitating. And in this season, there is nothing more scary than the unknown entity of COVID Testing.
John, a bus driver in Kwangware, asks a health promotion officer, “Is it true that the nose swab goes all the way to the brain? I don’t like that.”

Join Dr. Don Othoro as he dispels such myths and our fears around testing of Covid-19. Let us understand the procedures, the different types of tests given, the waiting period and understanding the results.

Join the conversation on The Thursday Briefing, 6:00pm.

Are your "Hormones" driving you CRAZY? ... 🤦🏾‍♀ 😤

As a doctor I often hear my patients complaining of mood swings, weight issues, fatigue, insomnia, tiredness and they say “I think its my hormones” OR “it must be my hormones” ...When I ask them what they mean they further explain it as being my ”female hormones”… One of the things that I think society has done is classify all hormones as “Female Reproductive Hormones” (mainly Progesterone and Oestrogen)

We now know that there are very many other powerful hormones that can cause these symptoms like Thyroxine, Cortisol, Adrenaline, Serotonin, Insulin etc … In addition to hormones low Iron, Vitamin’s B12 and Vit D levels can cause changes in energy levels and hence change our mood.

Finally, in todays fast paced world mental health conditions like stress, anxiety and depression can cause lethargy, weight fluctuation and unstable mood

So, the next time you feel tired, irritable, exhausted or under the weather a good medical assessment would go a long way before assuming that its “just a female hormone” thing!

Finding Your V.O.I.C.E!
“One word expresses the pathway to greatness: voice. Those on this path find their voice and inspire others to find theirs. The rest never do.” Stephen R. Covey
Someone once said that finding your VOICE is akin to searching for the Holy Grail...an impossible feat!

But is it really? Steven Covey says that, "The power to discover your voice lies in the potential that was bequeathed you at birth."
Finding Your V.O.I.C.E is learning how to make better decisions for work, home and family, and to be at peace with your life direction.

Join me Thursday 2nd June 2016 from 6 - 8pm at the Best Western Hotel for an evening of conversation around discovering your unique gifts and skills that enable you to make a difference in our world.

Just what is purpose?

It's Saturday pm and the itch to doodle came on. I used to get 😞 😞 when the word "Purpose"was mentioned. It is only when I asked myself, who am I and what am I doing here that the search began. This was 11 years ago. I had to settle my identity and design a template to help others to see the common thread for their personal development. I then developed a fun online course. A series of mishaps and events pooled things together and it is now I understand some experiences in every sphere of my life bringing me to this moment.

Since I decided to start the process of being self-employed, I have been inundated with "the How To Do Syndrome". I grimace at my inbox and unsubscribed to a lot of information that is mind boggling. Some of which I don't ascribe to 113 ways to be happy, 5 ways to make a six figure salary overnight or 10 ways to keep your relationship 😉 😉

I like keeping it simple, What is Purpose? The answer lies in a first question Why do you do what you do? Contrary to popular belief purpose is not some cataclysmic event that comes from the sky and hits you like a bolt of lightning. Purpose is born in you. You are a solution to a human problem.
Whether you are a housewife, artist, cake maker, businesswoman selling clothes or lingerie, doctor, hairdresser, business consultant, coach or an author, you solve a problem. It is interesting though, for some it's not what you got educated for. 😲 😲

Purpose is born out of a passion or pain that moves you to solve that problem. One cannot preach what they have not conquered!! Your purpose therefore is no less than mine, our demographic, influence and geographical area is the only variant. Martin Luther King to the civil rights movement in the USA, President Mangufuli to Tanzania. Wairimú to the women and men who have experienced abuse or a mental health illness especially in the black community in the UK for now.

One of the biggest challenges in doing this, is converting a service oriented concept into an income generating project. Since I lack the patience to understand some stuff, I will hire or be mentored by a business consultant to help me. As Paul says, "we are all one body different functions". I don't do hair I need a hairdresser or a barber.

I have met people who feel like they have been left out because they don't know their purpose. If you keep it simple to the problem you resolve for others you are good.

Always do what you are doing guided by principle many have found purpose, the method just varied.
