For fellow nurses who've gotten their licenses and are eyeing to work abroad, don't involve agents it'll be an exercise in futility as Kenya is on the Red list alert like most African countries that bar 3rd party agents from recruiting on behalf of hospitals. This should be your procedure:

For people eyeing UK and Ireland,
Ensure your checklist looks like this,

1. COVID Certification ✔️
2. TB vaccination ✔️
3. IELTS ✔️
4. Verification of your license ✔️
5. Travelling docs. ✔️

For those eyeing Australia, these are the bare minimum:
1. COVID Certification ✔️
2. NCK licensure ✔️
3. Travelling docs. ✔️

Note: Different institutions have different requirements...
If you have enough savings just start the process.. the earlier the better.

If you don't have a lot of money you still could do the basics and apply for jobs that offer Visa sponsorship... Those going the Australian route have an advantage coz they are a lot of employers/hospitals that facilitate your visa, flight ticket and accommodation among other perks.
I'm not going to talk about Canada and US coz it's a whole process that would take me a day to type.
Interested candidates, this is how to apply go to these 2 websites

Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) may be a complication of existing type 1 diabetes mellitus or be the first presentation, accounting for around 6% of cases. Rarely, under conditions of extreme stress, patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus may also develop DKA.

Whilst DKA remains a serious condition mortality rates have decreased from 8% to under 1% in the past 20 years.

Pathophysiology
•DKA is caused by uncontrolled lipolysis (not proteolysis) which results in an excess of free fatty acids that are ultimately converted to ketone bodies

The most common precipitating factors of DKA are infection, missed insulin doses and myocardial infarction.

Features
•abdominal pain
•polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia
•Deep hyperventilation)
•Acetone-smelling breath (fruity smell)

NEONATAL ASPHYXIA✨✨✨
✓Also know as Asphyxia Neonatorum.

Introduction
✓Asphyxia means lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain.
✓Birth asphyxia happens when a baby's brain and other organs do not get enough oxygen and nutrients before, during or right after birth.

Definition
✓Asphyxia of the new born is a condition in which a viable new born infant fails to initiate and sustain respirations after delivery.

TYPES OF ASPHYXIA**
1. MILD ASPHYXIA
✓This is often caused by obstruction to the airway.
✓It is of short duration
✓It responds to prompt treatment especially suctioning.
✓Apgar score is 4-7
✓There is no significant deprivation of oxygen during labour

2. SEVERE ASPHYXIA
✓It occurs due to uterine hypoxia.
✓ it is of long duration
✓ Apgar score is less than 4 (0-3)
✓There is prolonged lack of oxygen.
✓There is circulatory failure.
✓Baby is shocked

**CAUSES
1. MATERNAL HYPOXIA
✓This deprives the foetus of oxygen while uteral.
2. PLACENTAL SEPERATION
✓There is a cut-off of blood and oxygen to the uterus
3. CORD PROLAPSE
✓Theres cut off blood supply to the uterus
4. REDUCED UTERINE BLOOD FLOW
✓Reduced blood flow to the uterus deprives foetus of oxygen.
5. RUPTURE OF THE CORD
✓This will deprive the foetus in uteral of blood and oxygen.
6. EXCESSIVE ANALGESIA
✓Use of morphine or pethidine during labour may cause respiratory distress in the new born.
7. PROLONGED LABOUR
✓There's reduced placental blood flow that deprives foetus of blood and oxygen.
8.AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION
✓In cases of meconium aspiration, blood or mucus.
9.CONGENITAL ABNORMALITIES
✓Atresia that may obstruct airway entry causing severe hypoxia.
10.LUNG IMMATURITY
✓There is reduced surfactant production as in preterm Babies that may lead to lung collapse.

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY**
✓ Oxygenation of the foetus while in uteral is dependent on adequate oxygenation in the mother, adequate perfusion of the placental site, and placental function.

Acute and reversible
Quick onset

👉Signs and Symptoms
Peripheral loss of sensation and function
Moves centrally, eventually affecting the diaphragm
-Breathing problems
-Medical emergency (intubation)

👉Interventions
Plasmapheresis to remove antibodies destroying the nerves
Protect the breathing and wait it out (time heals).

Endocarditis, Myocarditis, and Pericarditis Explained for Student Nurses

Hey, future nurses and healthcare professionals. Let's dive into the fascinating realm of heart pathologies. In this educational post, we'll explore three important conditions: endocarditis, myocarditis, and pericarditis.
🔹 Endocarditis: Endocarditis is the inflammation of the inner
lining of the heart, including the heart valves. It typically occurs due to an
infection, often bacterial, entering the bloodstream and settling on the heart valves.
This condition can lead to valve damage, heart murmurs, and potential
complications like heart failure or embolism. Early detection, prompt
treatment, and diligent infection control are crucial for managing
endocarditis.
🔹 Myocarditis: Myocarditis refers to inflammation of the heart
muscle, usually caused by viral infections, autoimmune reactions, or exposure to toxins. It can result in weakened heart muscle, impairing its pumping function and leading to symptoms like chest pain, fatigue, or heart failure.
Close monitoring, supportive care, and treating the underlying cause are
essential in managing myocarditis.
🔹 Pericarditis: Pericarditis is inflammation of the pericardium,
the thin sac surrounding the heart. It can be caused by infections, autoimmune disorders, certain medications, or post-cardiac injury. Pericarditis often presents with chest pain, especially worsened by deep breathing or lying down.
