That’s love being delivered in real time 🤍

That soft gulping sound is more than feeding,

If you’re struggling with your milk supply, this is probably why 👇🏽

✨ Top reasons your milk flow could be low (but no one tells you):

1️⃣ Long gaps between feeds/pumps
Your body produces milk based on demand. When you go many hours without removing milk, production naturally drops. Short, regular sessions tell your body to keep making more.

2️⃣ Not fully emptying the breast
Milk left inside signals your body that “enough has been made.” Fully draining (either by baby or pump) triggers higher production at the next feed.

3️⃣ Stress & poor sleep
High cortisol blocks oxytocin, the hormone responsible for let-down. Even small bursts of relaxation (deep breaths, dim lights, warm compress) can help the milk flow again.

4️⃣ Low water & nutrient intake
Your body needs energy and hydration to produce milk. When meals are skipped or fluids are low, supply follows. Eating balanced, frequent meals makes a big difference.

The good news? Every one of these can be improved with the right support. 💛

At Lactacare Kenya, we help mamas boost supply naturally with:
🌿 Lactacare Lactaction Tea
🌿 Freshly baked milk boosting cookies and muffins
🌿 Personalized 1:1 breastfeeding support

If you want a FREE Guide on 7 things that could be affecting your milk supply and what to do about them, comment SUPPLY and I’ll send it to you. 💛

These bags didn’t fill themselves, a mama showed up, stayed consistent, and trusted the process. If you’ve been praying for fuller bags, better let-downs, or more consistent milk flow… you’re NOT alone!

Here’s what many mamas don’t know 👇🏽

Small, daily habits plus the right support can completely change your breastfeeding journey. And that journey begins HERE!! These results speak for themselves. 💛

Did you know that a breastfed baby rarely needs more than 4 ounces (120ml) of breastmilk at a time? (1 month+)

Average feeding volumes PER FEEDING by age:
Day 1 (0-24 hours): 2-10ml
Day 2 (24-48 hours): 10-20ml
Day 3 (48-72 hours): 20-30ml
Days 4-5 (72-96 hours): 30-60ml
Week 2-3: 60-90ml
1-6 months: 90-120ml

If your breastfed baby doesn’t seem satisfied after these amounts, consider HOW they get the bottle!
PACE FEEDING is very important when bottle feeding! Pace feeding mimics feeding at the breast and prevents a baby from taking the bottle too quickly. It should take a baby 10-15 minutes to take a bottle! This will help prevent over feeding and give baby a chance to get that signal to their brain that they are full (this can take up to 20 minutes)!
It is also important to follow baby’s hunger cues!! These max volume numbers are not a hard cut off! If baby is still showing hunger cues, especially after pace feeding, they may need more! I would suggest giving additional SMALL increments until baby seems satisfied!

Drop your questions or comments below!! 👇🏻

Note: this is specifically for breastfed babies!! Formula fed babies may need higher volumes depending on their age!
