Global Partnership Organizations and the National Federation of PBOs this week, we celebrated three significant global events that resonate deeply with our mission and core values. These events include: international Day of rural women, world food day, international day of Eradication of Poverty. The special days remind us of the critical role rural women play in our communities, the importance of ensuring food security for all, and the urgent need to eradicate poverty worldwide.
On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, we marked "International Day of Rural Women, during this day we acknowledged and celebrated the indispensable contributions of rural women, who form the backbone of agricultural systems and rural economies. Their tireless efforts and resilience are key to sustainable development and global food security.
On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, World Food Day, during this day, we highlighted the importance of collective global action to end hunger, achieve food security, and promote nutritious and sustainable diets. It is a reminder of our shared responsibility to ensure that no one is left behind in the fight for food justice.
On the same we were also joined by an official from Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) and shared with us Project to improve Infant Nutrition in Kericho County and food Project in Kitui County, which was in line with the International day's objectives of ensuring communities eat nutritious meal and hunger free society. We extend our appreciation to the great work Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) is doing among communities and organizations in Kenya towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
While on thursday, October 17th, 2024, we marked International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, poverty continues to affect millions around the globe. The day calls on us to renew our commitment to ending poverty in all its forms, addressing systemic inequalities, and fostering economic and social inclusion for all.

*The NGO Council of Kenya Values the contribution of women* to the nation's socio economic development, through the recently launched NGO Council women Caucus, the NGO Council will rally women and all their affiliates who work to make difference in people's lives in the country, Women are important agents for creating stability in the lives of their families and to promote reconciliation and peace even under very difficult and traumatic circumstances. The NGO Council will mobilize women leaders to work for peaceful election campaigns as the country prepares for the August 9 general elections. The elections will mark Kenya's 5th transition since independence from colonial Britain in 1963. Women play a critical role in peace building could not be underrated. Women are the custodians of national stability with a bigger stake in a peaceful society as when there is political violence they bear the biggest burden. The NGO Council recently pioneered Mwananchi Peace initiative and women will be at the forefront to champion a nationwide peace campaign to involve women across the country to stop any divisive or ethnic driven violence ahead of the August 2022 general elections. There are obvious reasons why women are important to the peace building process " NGO Council urge women leaders to always rally other Kenyans to ensure peace and the already gained democratic gains are safeguarded as the country prepares for the 2022 General elections,"
Women are also the central caretakers of families and everyone is affected when they are excluded from peace building. Women are also advocates for peace, as peacekeepers, relief workers and mediators.Women are expert in performing their responsibilities easily without any crease on their forehead. Women's participation improves peace negotiations, but they are too often excluded. As NGO Council we should always stand with women and women leaders for the betterment of our society, peace forever in our country , kindly join us on this noble journey as week strong partnership to realize the goal to better future of our nation*Thank you, *Stephen K. The National Council of NGOs calls for TRUCE, harmony and sobriety among the various political competing interests in the Country. The NGO Council calls on the various political groupings , leaders and their supporters and urges for TRUCE and PEACE as various top political leaders and parties visit various places to meet the peace and sell their agenda's ahead of this year's general Elections to be held on august 9th , NGO Council calls political leaders to tolerate one another at all times and they should ensure that at all times peace prevails in every part of the Country, we urge political leaders and parties to use every opportunity they have to champion for the interests of Kenyan people. We urge leaders to keep working for the in the of the nation and its people.
The Council urges our leaders to avoid unnecessary early campaigns and refocus their energies on the current challenges affecting the citizens such as insecurity in some parts of the country is rampant high levels of unemployment is high in the country, food insecurity, drought in some parts of the nation , health challenges among others remain a threat to many and thus requires commitment by the current and aspiring leaders before campaigns for next year elections leaders to focus their energies to solve the current problems. Leaders should not use more energy on settling political scores but utilize the same for the benefit of the people.
The upcoming general Elections in the country is 8 Months far away and thus there is need for political leaders to work together for the benefit of common citizens in the Country who direly need the help of the leaderships.
