👋 Meet Pauline, a people person and head of human resources from Kenya 🇰🇪

She was surrounded by people, yet felt profoundly alone. Over time, she became her own harshest critic, until she no longer believed she had any value. The financial pressure around her only deepened this, reinforcing the need to keep everything inside and simply push forward.

Pauline found the strength within herself to finally open up and share what she was feeling. In doing so, the weight she carried began to lift, and she realized she wasn’t alone in struggling to express her challenges and emotions. It helped her see that she came into this world with something that is uniquely hers, and that it was meant to be shared, freely and without limits.

"Everyone has unique gifts, a unique calling, and the world needs the skills you have. You are created differently than anyone else in the world. Go out, give your skills to the world!" - Pauline

Watch my full interview https://www.thehumanaspect.com/story/802 to hear how I was surrounded by people, but I still felt very lonely. My inner world became more and more critical towards myself until I felt I held no value. The financial situation around me increased my sense of needing to “hold it in and continue”. The hardest part was not being able to communicate how I felt and that I did not have solutions for myself, because this increased the sense of shame and guilt. I increasingly felt that the world was unfair, and it spiraled me deeper into isolation and hopelessness, to the point where I wanted to end it.

See how I found strength within me to open up and start sharing how I felt. This helped me to lighten the burden and see that I was not the only one struggling to share my challenges and emotions. This allowed me to realize that I came into this world with a package and that I had to start sharing it with the world without limitations. Helping me to accept that sometimes our past holds us back from achieving what we aspire to do and that I needed to make space for my healing journey to allow me to process it. Making it possible for me to reconnect with my love for people and working with people, to create space for my personality to blossom again.
💜

"Sometimes you just need a little push from inside of you" - Catherine

Watch my full interview https://www.thehumanaspect.com/story/800 to hear how I was struggling to fit in, and everywhere I went, I felt like there was something off with my being there. Carrying this fueled my inner voice, which told me that they were talking about me and that I did not belong. Growing up, my family represented a religious minority that also carried visible signs of our identity through our clothing. My inner dialogue drove me to isolation, and I felt I lost touch with reality, questioning everything around me to the point where I longed for eternal rest. Studying psychology and coming from a traditional background, I found it hard to find spaces to share my struggles with my family, which increased my feeling of loneliness.

See how I met the mental health organization Shamiri Health through a career fair and how their app Rafi motivated me to start my own therapeutic journey. The therapist supported me in facing my intrusive thoughts and suppressed feelings. See how I learnt to open up a new space to see the dualism in the world despite my challenges. Helping me to affirm myself and reconnect with my heritage and start nurturing my self-worth, and allowing me to have a vulnerable and strong foundation with which I could become the therapist I wanted to be for others. 💜
