KMTC Academic Council Meeting Advances Dialogue on Enhancing Quality Training
In a proactive move towards ensuring the sustained excellence of medical training, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) held its quarterly Academic Council Meeting from 11th – 13th October, 2023.
This significant gathering brought together Principals from various KMTC Campuses, Heads of Department, and top Management, marking a vital platform for strategic discussions and decisions.
Addressing the Principals during his inaugural meeting as the College’s Board Chairperson, Mr. Joseah K. Cheruiyot, affirmed the Board’s steadfast support, emphasizing the value placed on exceptional performance. "Where possible, excellent performance shall be rewarded," stated Mr. Cheruiyot. He further urged Principals to actively collaborate with stakeholders, undertake resource mobilization activities, and empower their staff. "We encourage you to build the capacity of your staff and give them room to grow," he said.
Additionally, Mr. Cheruiyot highlighted the Board's dedication to addressing regional disparities in training opportunities, stating, "Our focus will be on campuses in marginalized areas, supporting affirmative action and ensuring equal access to high-quality education."
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Kelly Oluoch provided an overview of recent advancements within the institution. "We have made significant strides in strengthening our Management team," stated the CEO. He reported that essential positions including, Deputy Director Finance, Planning and Administration, Human Resource Manager, Corporation Secretary, Internal Audit Manager, and Resource Mobilization Manager have been filled with competent professionals.
