....kidney failure
It is alarming the rate at which our people are developing Renal failure. Our Renal units are flooding. There might not be enough research as to why, rather few observation, and assumption. I know you feel this is TMI -or something that only health care providers should worry about- but the honest truth is that, we want you healthy and you being around hospitals doesn’t bring us joy nor is it an opportunity for us to target pocket. Am not an expert in nephrology, but rather on the diagnosis end of this process.
1. If you have an overlying conditions such as Hypertension, diabetics, Lupus- among others-The chances to developing Renal failure is high. And the former increases if you don’t comply with your doctor’s orders, and become uncooperative. Please take your medication. And do your check-ups
2. Please, please, Stop abusing/misusing drugs- Most of this drugs are nephrotoxic- causing damage to your kidneys. And majority of these drugs are cleared through the kidneys. Stop taking strong analgesics to even mild headaches.
3. Drink enough water for the day- as Renal failure is greatly associated with hypovolemia.
4. Stop sharing medication, just because you have similar symptoms with your friend doesn’t mean you have the same disease. No- go to a hospital and get seen by a professional.
5. Finish your medications- especially these antibiotics- please if you are given by your doctor, just finish them doesn’t matter if two days into the course of usage you got better and you decide to leave it. Just finish it. Feeling ok isn’t an excuse here.
I tried to make this short, I hope you put out there. I want each one of you healthy. I love you all
