Day 1 at the SCOMRA Conference: Industry and the Future of Regulatory Harmonisation

The first day of the Southern and Central Africa Conference of Medicines Regulatory Authorities (SCOMRA) brought together regulators, industry leaders, and technical experts to focus on one clear agenda; strengthening harmonisation and advancing reliance models across Africa.

Key discussions centred on the African Medicines Agency (AMA), with delegates sharing experiences on leveraging the AMA pathway to accelerate product registration and improve access to quality-assured health products. The emphasis on regulatory reliance, knowledge sharing, and collaboration between national authorities and industry reflected a shared commitment to efficiency, innovation, and patient safety.

As the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK), we remain deeply aligned to these goals; advocating for a harmonised, science-driven regulatory ecosystem that empowers pharmacists, manufacturers, and policymakers to deliver access and the highest attainable standard of health to all.
