It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Gibson Maina a former NUPSA Chair, Mandela Washington Fellow, and an inspiring YPG leader.

Dr. Maina was a remarkable young leader whose passion, integrity, and commitment to service left a lasting impact on the pharmacy profession and the wider community. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew and worked with him.

We have lost a great young man, a mentor, and a friend.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

On December 18, we hosted our landmark Dinner and Gala Awards 2025โ€”an event that will be remembered as a pivotal moment of unity and shared purpose for our nation's health sector.

We were profoundly honoured by the presence of our Chief Guest, PS Dr Ouma Oluga, Principal Secretary for the State Department of Medical Services, The Ministry of Health, Kenya. The high-level engagement was further elevated by the attendance of key officials, including Dr Nancy Njeru, Director of Healthcare Financing, Digital Health, Policy and Research Standards (MOH), alongside other senior ministry officials.

The evening represented an unprecedented gathering of professional leadership, with our regulatory body, the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), represented by Chairman Dr John Munyu, Dr Wilfred Ochieng (Director, Practice), and Dr Anthony Martin Toroitich (Director, Corporate Affairs). In a powerful show of inter-professional solidarity, we were joined by Dr Simon Kigondu, President of the Kenya Medical Association (KMA); Dr Kahura Mundia, President of the Kenya Dental Association (KDA); and Dr. Davji Atellah, Secretary-General of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists' Union (KMPDU).

This collective presence of policy-makers, regulators, and the leadership of sister healthcare professions under one roof sends a resounding message: the future of healthcare in Kenya is collaborative. Together with our dedicated members and industry partners, we celebrated excellence, championed innovation, and reinforced our shared commitment to a stronger, more integrated health system for all Kenyans.

A heartfelt thank you to every individual and organisation that made this historic night possible.
