This was me three fridays ago.

So late last month, what had started off as nagging pain quickly escalated to a medical emergency that had the possibility of it being fatal.

It's been almost four weeks since I came back home.

Outside of the probing, the tests, the scans, the IV drips, the excruciating pain and the sigh of relief that I am still alive.

I am not ok.

While describing this dull ache that was rendering me speechless, a dear friend remarked that what I had gone through was indeed life threatening. And this ache was a reminder that I had come through to the other side, alive and deeply bruised.

There is so much potency of restoration and renewal when we are seen fully by others. Hearing those words from my friend opened up this box that has been holding so much fear, sadness and emotional pain.

Her words mirroring concern and care wrapped up with describing what I couldn't quite articulate.

This is the magic that is unleashed when we are seen and held by another.

I give thanks for this gift.
