Fitness is NOT a luxury. It’s maintenance.

NGONG HILLS SAID "NOT TODAY" 😂🥾

Muddy? Check.
Cold? Double check.
Worth it? 1000%

We started the morning questioning our life choices at the base of Ngong.
Ended the day at Smith's, warm, full, and laughing with strangers who became friends.

The wellness talk hit hard: "Your body hears everything your mind says." With Weight Watchers Kenya & Iyashi Wellness

Had that conversation at ###xx ft with the wind in my face. Different perspective literally and mentally.

Lessons from the mud:
1. The best views come after the hardest climbs
2. Cold fingers are temporary. Regret is permanent.

Why Mobility is important....?

Your body is sending you invoices.

Not in shillings. In pain.

-Neck pain at 3PM = invoice for looking down at your phone all morning.
-Lower back pain driving in Nairobi traffic = invoice for tight hips.
-Knee clicks going up stairs = invoice for ankles that don’t move.

Most Kenyans are paying these invoices with Panadol and “I’ll rest kesho”.

There’s a better way: MOBILITY.

Mobility is not stretching.
Stretching is passive. Mobility is control.

-Can you squat butt-to-heels without your heels lifting?
-Can you lift your arms overhead without your back arching?
-Can you turn your head fully to reverse your car without shoulder pain?

If you failed 1+ → your body is borrowing movement from the wrong joints. That debt collects as injury.

The fix isn’t more workouts. It’s better movement.

5 minutes daily:
1. Ankles: Knee-to-wall touches. 10 each side.
2. Hips: 90/90 hip rotations. 5 each way.
3. Spine: Cat-cow + thoracic twists. 8 reps.

Do this before your day starts. Watch your 2PM energy crash disappear.

Myth : If you’re not losing 5kgs/week, the diet failed

Reality: 0.5-1kgs/week is healthy, sustainable fat loss. 5kgs/week = water, muscle, and misery.

Why it persists: Social Media fad diet challenges, reality TV + 30-day challenges glorify crash results.

Breaker: Lose 20kgs in 5 months and keep it off > lose 20kgs in 1 month and regain 30kgs after 5 months.

Slow loss = keeps metabolism + sanity intact.

The real “diet” that works:
1.Calorie deficit — eat slightly less than you burn. No magic macro split needed.
2. Protein + fiber— keeps you full. Chicken, beans, veggies, ugali etc . Normal food.
3. Consistency > intensity — 80% good for 1 year beats 100% perfect for 2 weeks.
4. Move more — Walk. Lift stuff. Sleep.
5. Stress management

Bottom line: If a diet has a name, bans carbs in it's food list, includes expensive shakes or supplements, or promises “10kgs in 10 days” — it’s a fad.
