Ulcers vs Gastritis vs Acid Reflux vs Cancer – Know What’s Happening in Your Stomach

Stomach pain is common — but the cause could be mild, serious, or even life-threatening. Many people confuse ulcers, gastritis, acid reflux, and early stomach cancer because the symptoms overlap.

Let’s clear the confusion.

🔍 1. Gastritis – Inflammation of the stomach lining

Burning upper stomach pain

Nausea, bloating, vomiting

Often caused by infection (H. pylori), painkillers, alcohol

Gets better with antacids and rest

🔍 2. Acid Reflux (GERD) – Stomach acid flows backward into the throat

Heartburn, bitter taste in mouth

Happens after eating or lying down

Treated with diet change, antacids, sleeping upright
