The Mental Health Data Prize Africa (MHDPA) is making strides in closing Africa’s data gap 🌍. Since its launch in 2023, led by the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) and Wellcome Trust💡, over 1,300 participants from across the continent have gained critical skills in 📊, artificial intelligence ( ) 🤖, evidence-based policymaking 📑, and causal inference 🔍.

As the competition moves into the final stages 🎯, top-performing teams will present their solutions to a panel of judges 👩‍⚖️👨‍⚖️, with winners announced at the upcoming award ceremony 🏆.

🧠 Since launching the Mental Health Data Prize Africa, APHRC has made incredible progress toward transforming mental health research across the continent.

🌍 Over 1,300 participants took part in a virtual program, learning critical skills in data science, AI, and policymaking.

🔍Now, with the internal review process complete, we're heading into the next phase: external review!
