You turn your back for 2 seconds…
and suddenly it’s a diaper crime scene 😭
Toddlers are learning the concepts of "in and out", "full and empty". They need to repeatedly dump things out to master the relationship between objects and the spaces they occupy.
Testing Cause-and-Effect: They are performing experiments! Every time they dump a drawer, they are testing gravity ("What happens when I let go?"), spatial relationships, and cause-and-effect ("If I pull this, the pile falls out").
Building Fine Motor Skills: The physical act of gripping, pulling, and manipulating the contents of a drawer is excellent practice for developing the dexterity they need for more complex tasks later on.
Asserting Independence: At this age, they are beginning to realize they have the power to influence their environment. Being able to change the state of a room (from tidy to messy) is a huge boost to their budding sense of autonomy.
Anyone else raising a tiny chaos manager? 😅
