Through our ongoing outreach program, we continue to bring rehabilitation and assistive technology services closer to communities ensuring that no one is left behind due to distance or limited access.

During this outreach, three participants who had earlier been part of the mass assessment and registration received their assistive devices, giving them greater mobility, independence, and confidence to participate fully in community life.

At APDK, we believe that inclusion begins with access and every outreach brings us one step closer to a society where everyone can thrive. πŸ’ͺ

Mobility changes everything.
It opens doors. It restores freedom. It brings independence back to daily life.

At APDK, we are committed to making that independence accessible and affordable for everyone.

We offer a full range of wheelchairs:
βœ… Manual wheelchairs (lightweight and durable)
βœ… Electric/power wheelchairs (hands-free mobility for longer distances)
βœ… Pediatric wheelchairs (designed specifically for children)
βœ… Customized postural support and fittings

Our goal is simple: no one should be limited by the cost of mobility.

Whether you’re buying for yourself, a child, a loved one, or a patient β€” our team will help you find a wheelchair that fits your body, your lifestyle, and your needs.

Freedom of movement should not be a privilege. It should be a right.

APDK participated in the launch of the Economic Value of Unpaid Domestic and Care Work Report 2025, led by KNBS and the State Department for Gender Affairs and Affirmative Action.

The report reveals the significant contribution of unpaid care work to Kenya’s economy β€” a burden that disproportionately falls on women and caregivers of persons with disabilities.

At APDK, we see daily how caregiving responsibilities limit economic opportunities for families of children and adults with disabilities.
Recognizing the economic value of unpaid care work is a critical step toward inclusive budgeting, strengthened social protection, and caregiver support.

When caregivers are supported, persons with disabilities thrive.

Today, APDK Kisii Branch joined hands with the Kisii Deaf Association and NCPWD to celebrate Deaf Awareness Month under the theme:

✨ β€œNo Human Rights without Kenyan Sign Language Rights.” ✨

We stand together to champion inclusion, accessibility, and the recognition of Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) as a fundamental human right.
When we remove communication barriers, we create space for dignity, equality, and full participation.

🀟🏽 Let’s continue amplifying Deaf voices.
🀟🏽 Let’s advocate for KSL recognition.
🀟🏽 Because rights begin with understanding.

Our Story

APDK is charitable NGO in Kenya established in 1958 to improve the life of Persons with Disabilities through strengthening rehabilitation services, empowering and promoting inclusion of persons with disabilities(pwd).

Our Vision as APDK is to promote an inclusive society where persons with disabilities have equal rights and have access to rehabilitation services.

APDK services are modeled through 3-tier service provision; outreach plus, community based rehabilitation and institutionalized rehabilitation. Our services include Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Club Foot Management, Surgical Invention, promoting inclusion of pwd for employment in the private sector.

Through the Orthopedic Technology we fabricate crutches, calipers, surgical boots, inner soles, appropriate wheelchairs, tricycles and special seating; wheelchair services are aligned to the WHO Guidelines.
