Dear DVT & Pulmonary Embolism Support Hub Kenya community,

I hope this message finds you well. As we embark on this journey together, I am humbled to share a piece of my story with you.

On September 15th, 2023, I experienced a life-altering event—a massive bilateral Pulmonary Embolism accompanied by cardiac arrest. This is after 12 months of grappling with DVT, a condition that was unfortunately overlooked by medical professionals despite the unmistakable signs—swelling, redness, limping, excruciating pain in my right leg, rapid heart rate, and breathlessness which was diagnosed as anxiety,. The journey was arduous, marked by moments of despair and uncertainty.

During my hospital stay, which lasted approximately a week, I faced the unimaginable. I was in a coma and life support for a while. The ordeal left me grappling with PTSD, a silent struggle that lingers even as I write this today. There is something deeply saddening about dying no matter how brief the encounter was. It's nothing short of a miracle that I am here, able to share this message of hope and resilience.

Throughout my recovery, I realized the profound need for a supportive community—a place where individuals like us, bound by shared experiences, can find solace, understanding, and strength. Despite the unwavering support of my loved ones, there remained an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and connection.

It has taken me over three months to reclaim even a fraction of my former self. The journey is fraught with challenges, yet it also reveals the unwavering resilience of the human spirit. Today, I am not just an administrator but a fellow traveler on this path toward healing and wholeness.

Our mission is clear: to foster a community of empathy, support, and empowerment. Together, we aim to raise awareness about DVT and PE, dispel myths, and provide a safe haven for those navigating similar struggles.

I invite each of you to share your stories, your triumphs, and your vulnerabilities. Let us weave a tapestry of understanding, compassion, and hope—one that transcends borders and binds us together in solidarity.

As we embark on this journey, remember that you are not alone. Your voice matters, your story is valid, and together, we are stronger.

With unwavering commitment,
