Kibera Community Empowerment Organization was founded by Joshwa Tambo and Abby Angawa in 2007 through great passion they had to see Kibera Slum socially developed. Kibera Community Empowerment Organisation is an independent community based organization, committed to empower community in Kibera Slums in Nairobi capital city of Kenya to take active responsibility for their lives to shape the future of their destiny through doing it for themselves and to themselves. KCEO achieves this though capacity building, resource mobilisation, advocacy, lobbying for change in all aspects of human life: social, economic, spiritual, political and physical. Access to education, and creation of linkages leading at poverty reduction, financial freedom, skills dissemination, and social justice. KCEO provides a platform through which Kibera slum Community can explore and share skills innate abilities towards sustainable growth and development on a foundation of independency, equity ,justice, self reliance and a harmonized peaceful society. To create a free justice and equitable society where communities are able to identify their most felt needs and then translate their aspirations and potential into productive and fulfilling life. KCEO aims to mobilize internal and external resources to implement KCEO projects to achieve the following objectives.
β’ To facilitate a sustainable behavior change among school age and out of school youths thereby reduce incidences of new infection, early marriages, school drop out and drug abuse.
β’ To promote a healthy and friendly environment through waste management and tree planting.
β’ To improve economic situation of Kibera slum residence through promoting viable income generating activities.
