When making overhead movements such as overhead presses, handstands etc, thoracic mobility is as important as shoulder mobility.

⚠️ Having poor thoracic mobility will therefore lead to arching your lower back when making such movements to compensate for that poor thoracic or overhead shoulder mobility, causing distress on your lower back.

⚠️ Tight thoracic spine could be because of bad posture.

✅ Good thoracic extension enables the scapula to stay in the correct position avoiding shoulder pains.

Have you ever weighed yourself after a good workout and found that you’ve lost some weight and then the next day you find that it’s back? That’s because during your workout, you probably did sweat causing your body to lose water weight which you gain back as soon as you hydrate again .

Remember how as a kid you'd sit in a deep squat position while watching your favourite cartoon? Now that you've flashed back to that, why is it you can't get into that position today?

Well, here it is. Most of us spend most of our time sitting all day, maybe because of the jobs we have. This prolonged sitting causes a muscle in your hip flexors to shorten making your hip flexors tight. Tight hip flexors then tilt your pelvis forward changing your posture. This anterior pelvic tilt decreases the room for hip flexion which affect how deep you can squat due to decreased Range of Motion.

Lack of hip mobility can also greatly affect your technique- When performing a squat, short hip flexors will tend to shift your weight much more forward on to your toes. This shifting will then not allow the bigger muscles to help you out, putting great stress on your knees.
