Who we are
Hope for Cancer Kids (H4CK) is a registered charitable organization formed in 2008 by parents and friends of children diagnosed with childhood cancer, Registration No. 28787.
We are a not-for-profit organization registered under the Societies Act of Kenya. We help raise funds for children battling the disease. Our Health Insurance Support Program has proved beneficial to children with cancer and their families, especially from poor backgrounds. Hope for Cancer Kids (H4CK) supports families by paying health insurance cover for children with cancer, through the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF). NHIF covers both in-patient and out-patient hospital fees in government hospitals. It costs KES 6,000 to cover a child for a period of one year to recieve treatment in public/government hospitals. However some cots are not covered by the government and we have other programmes aimed at raising awareness, fundraising and advocacy.
Since 2011, H4CK has focused on providing NHIF funding for children receiving treatment at KNH, as well as other supportive services for families. While we have been very successful in assisting families, and encouraging them to continue treatment, the Board of H4CK realized the need to take a strategic look at current programs and find ways to make sure our work remains mission-focused and time-efficient.
