𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶?

It’s a separation of the abdominal muscles along the midline, something many women experience during pregnancy, after delivery, or even years later without knowing.

It happens when the connective tissue stretches beyond its limit, creating a gap that makes the tummy look or feel “pooched,” bloated, weak, or domed when you move.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘁?

Not just new mums.You can have DR if you’ve:
• recently delivered
• had multiple pregnancies
• lifted heavy items often
• gained weight quickly
• done intense core work with poor form
• or simply have weak deep-core engagement

It’s more common than people realise.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁? (𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁)

✅️Lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat.
✅️Lift your head slightly and press two–three fingers along your midline (above, on, and below your belly button).
✅️If you feel a gap or your fingers sink deep between your muscles, that’s a sign of diastasis recti.
✅️A gap of 2.5–3 fingers and above, especially with depth, often needs structured rehab.

‼️ If you discover you have DR, don’t panic.
It is fixable, but not with crunches, sit-ups, planks, or regular gym routines. Those can actually make the separation worse.
