Why do I need a BP-monitor?

Hypertension is a serious condition affecting Kenyans today at an alarming rate. It generally has no symptoms. If unmonitored can lead to stroke, heart failure or kidney failure, can damage blood vessels and other parts of your body but can remain undetected for years. Its result is sudden death! It is important to know if you are at risk because once detected, HBP can generally be treated effectively.

Why should I measure?

Measuring blood pressure at home is of value to patients with diabetes, for whom consistent and accurate blood pressure management is of utmost importance.
Checking your pressure at home can help put it under control and even prevent its occurrence than waiting to visit health providers to check for you.
Pregnant women, children, and patients with kidney disease also need to keep in check their pressure levels at home.

How can I control HBP?

Regular Monitoring
Following a healthy eating plan HIP recommended diet
Having a regular physical activity Plan
Managing a healthy weight(see weight management)
Quitting smoking
Stress management(see depression recovery)
