Simple steps to you can take to maintain the health of your eyes:

1. Wear sunglasses – UV blocking sunglasses can protect from cataracts and prevent retinal damage

2. Do not smoke

3. Get a regular eye assessment

4. Wear eye protection – be sure to have eye protection when carrying our daily activities such as sports, gardening, cleaning etc.

5. Know your family history

6. Early intervention - Early intervention and diagnosis of conditions like glaucoma which do not have symptoms can prevent vision loss later

7. Be aware of eye fatigue – eye fatigue can be a sign of several different conditions. A tip is to follow the 20-20-20 rule: Look up from your work every 20 minutes at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

8. Lastly – eat clean, eat right! Dr. Joshi always recommends a plant-based diet
