Last week, the International Maternal and Newborn Health (IMNH) Conference brought together global and country leaders in Nairobi to share insights, reflect, and accelerate action for the health of mothers and newborns.
With nearly half of under-five deaths occurring in the first month of life, every intervention counts.
EPN was proud to participate, sharing lessons from our Maternal and Newborn Health Product Introduction (MNHC) Project in Kenya and Nigeria, showing how country-led, real-world solutions are saving lives.
Key takeaways:
- Faith-based health facilities are central to national health systems and ready to partner for impact.
- Local, country-led evidence drives sustainable change and policy adoption.
- What gets recorded gets done—and what gets done saves lives.
- Community-led, culturally tailored approaches ensure lasting impact.
- Ending PPH requires strategic advocacy, empowered providers, aligned systems, and actionable evidence.
- Strong supply chains and availability of quality MNH commodities—including innovative PPH bundles, uterotonics, and essential maternal drugs—are non-negotiable.
- Political commitment, coordinated partnerships, and strategic advocacy are essential to scale and sustain solutions.
The conference reinforced a simple truth: this is not a moment, it’s a movement.
At EPN, we are committed to strengthening supply chains, supporting country-led solutions, and ensuring life-saving maternal and newborn health commodities reach those who need them most.
