Celebrating a Major Milestone at EPN
After one and a half months of intensive effort, we’re excited to announce the successful completion of Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) trainings across Kenya and Nigeria!
Over 400 healthcare workers including; nurses, midwives, clinical officers, and medical officers have been equipped with lifesaving skills to manage pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn emergencies. The training sessions covered an overview of Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC), respectful maternity care, shock management, postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia management, essential newborn care and newborn resuscitation, infection prevention, and strengthening teamwork and referral systems to save lives.
This training is a key component of our ongoing MNCH project, aimed at scaling up access to maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) products to prevent postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and neonatal complications. Training is critical to ensure that quality services are delivered at all levels of care—and that lifesaving commodities are matched with the skills to use them effectively.
This achievement was made possible with the support of the of Health Kenya, the Ministry of Health Nigeria (Department of Family Health – Reproductive, Maternal, and Child Health), and our incredible partners: Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) and Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN).
We now look forward to site-level implementation and ongoing mentorship, ensuring these skills translate into better outcomes for mothers and newborns.
Together, we’re building stronger health systems and healthier futures.
