There's a serious disease that has really led to the death of many ideas, dreams and aspirations.
Many times it leads to low self esteem, stress and it may escalate how one relates with people.
I once suffered from this disease until I met my mentor the late Dr. Myles Munroe. Today as I work with students, young adults, couples and employees I see a lot of very gifted people yet they can't believe they can impact the world.

It may seem to be something not so heavy. You tell yourself I will be well. We get into the scum called time heals all wounds and forget that it's not time that heals but what you do within that time.
You tell yourself, there is no need to go for counseling...... the list goes on. You forget that everything that happens to us, takes something out of us no matter how small it may seem to be.
The long term effects is that, your health slowly starts to give way and get once. Several years down the line you see some doing something so crazy and you wonder how can one be so inhumane. It's because they died emotionally slowly by slowly and now they are acting out.

*ALCOHOL CRAVING THEORY*

As alcohol enters the body, it breaks down into various components, one of which is acetate.

Acetate triggers a craving for more acetate. In a normal drinker, the acetate moves through the system quickly and exits.

But that doesn't happen in an alcoholic. In alcoholics, the acetate of the first drink is barely processed out, so by staying in the body, it triggers a craving for more acetate.

The alcoholic then has a second drink, adding to most of the acetate of the first drink, and that makes them want a drink twice as much as the normal drinker.

At times the craving alcoholics have no control over how much they drink. The craving cycle has begun and they have no choice but to keep drinking.

Once the acetate accumulates in their body, then they will crave another and the cycle continues.....

Do you know that mental health is not just about going crazy as some people would like to imply? I find it a bit disturbing when I listen to some conversation and people are ignorant of what it is. It's worth noting this:
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. It goes further to how we carry out our duties at work and in our businesses.
A Doctor, Nurse, Psychotherapist, Journalist, Police officer etc who has vicarious trauma or simply put Burnout may end up in hurting the same people who he/she is serving.
Let's embrace and seek therapy as early as we start having the symptoms. We don't have to wait until we are overwhelmed.

Signs include but are not limited to:

1. Fear of abandonment

2. Lack of self love.

3. Never truly feeling happy, complete, and/or fulfilled.

4. People Pleasing and/or perfectionist tendencies.

5. Feeling an intense need to control everything.

6. Never feeling good enough.

7.Constantly criticizing and judging yourself for being inadequate.

8. Believing that you are not worthy of loved.

9.Struggling with romantic relationships.

10. Not standing up for yourself or believing your voice matters.
