As DWB Foundation Kenya we have steadily offered our support to the education sector by strengthening the capacities of three critical stakeholders: the learner, the educator and the parent.

As part of our mission to promote holistic learning experience, we strengthen the Guidance and Counselling Department to be able to address the emotional and mental issues of the learners well. We believe that a school that promotes emotional and mental wellness is able to meet their academic targets effortlessly. To enhance this, we hold workshops for the educators to sharpen their skills on various perspectives of guidance and counselling, which believe is critical in promoting holistic wellness of a learning institution.

On 6th March 2026, we held our fifth workshop in Kisumu, which was greatly attended and appreciated by the educators.

We remain on course to even greater impact. We appreciate all the key stakeholders who keep on joining us in this mission.

Yesterday, we held a strategic engagement with Mr. Josephat Otsieno, the Chief Principal of Butula Boys' National School. The meeting, which also included Mr. Isaac Were, the Head of Guidance and Counselling Department, focused on establishing a collaboration pact aimed at supporting educators, learners, and support staff to strengthen a holistic learning experience within the school.

This partnership will also serve as a strategic pillar in the region as we continue expanding the reach and impact of Do It With Boldness (DWB) programmes.

Our recent Guidance and Counselling Workshop at Kisumu Boysโ€™ High School was not only insightful and empowering; it was also filled with light moments that reminded us that learning can be both meaningful and enjoyable.

As teachers engaged in discussions, shared experiences from their schools, and reflected on real student cases, there were also moments of laughter, friendly exchanges, and relaxed conversations that created a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the training.

These light moments helped participants connect more freely, making it easier to share honest experiences, ask questions, and learn from one another. It reminded us that professional growth thrives best in spaces where people feel comfortable, respected, and valued.

At DWB Foundation, we believe that effective training is not just about knowledge; it is also about building relationships, encouraging openness, and creating memorable learning experiences.

Together, we continue to strengthen guidance and counselling in our schools while enjoying the journey of learning together.

During the Guidance and Counselling Workshop at Kisumu Boysโ€™ High School, Heads of Departments (HODs) from different schools shared the positive changes they have witnessed in their counselling departments since assuming leadership and working closely with DWB Foundation.

These transformative changes included: their departments becoming more structured and intentional, with clearer counselling processes, better documentation, and stronger student guidance programs.

One of the key strengths of our workshops is the highly interactive environment we create for participants. We believe that meaningful learning happens when teachers are not just listening, but actively engaging, sharing experiences, and learning from one another.

During our sessions, participants are encouraged to speak freely, ask questions, share real school experiences, and discuss practical solutions to the challenges they face while supporting learners. This open approach allows teachers to connect, reflect, and gain insights from colleagues who encounter similar situations in their schools.

Through case reflections and collaborative activities, our workshops become safe spaces for professional growth, learning, and mentorship.

At DWB Foundation, we remain committed to creating platforms where educators can learn together, support each other, and strengthen guidance and counselling systems in our schools.

The Chief Guest's Address: Guidance and Counselling Workshop

The Kisumu County Director of Education, Mrs. Rosemary Birenge, the Chief Guest during the Regional Guidance and Counselling Workshop for Teachers has called on teachers to strengthen guidance and counselling programs in schools to help address the growing social and behavioural challenges affecting learners.

Speaking during ouring our fifth Guidance and Counselling Workshop at Kisumu Boys High School, she emphasized the critical role teachers play in shaping studentsโ€™ character and helping them navigate issues such as peer pressure, drug and substance abuse, and mental health challenges.

Mrs. Birenge encouraged teachers to remain approachable and supportive, noting that learners are more likely to seek help when they feel understood and safe. Today, on International Womenโ€™s Day, we celebrate the strength, courage, and limitless potential of women and girls everywhere. At Do It With Boldness (DWB) Foundation, we stand firmly with the global call to advance dignity, opportunity, and justice for every woman and girl.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œRights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,โ€ reminds us that while many rights have been promised, millions of women and girls still face barriers to education, safety, leadership, and economic participation. At DWB Foundation, we believe that true progress happens when these rights move from promises on paper to realities in everyday life.

Through our programs, we are taking action to close these gaps. Our work with schools, educators, and young people promotes character development, competence, and social connection, ensuring that girls grow up confident, informed, and empowered to pursue their dreams. Through our counselling and adolescent development initiatives, we create safe spaces where girls can be heard, supported, and guided as they navigate the challenges of growing up.

Aligned with the International Womenโ€™s Day campaign themeโ€œGive To Gain,โ€ we also recognize the power of mentorship, collaboration, and collective support. When women support other women and when communities invest in girls, the entire society grows stronger. At DWB Foundation, we continue to encourage mentorship networks, leadership development opportunities, and community partnerships that uplift women and girls.

As we celebrate today, we call upon educators, leaders, parents, and young people to join us in building a future where every girl knows her worth, every woman has equal opportunity, and justice and dignity are realities for all.

Let us continue to give our support, mentorship, and advocacy so that together we may all gain a more just, inclusive, and empowered world.

Happy International Womenโ€™s Day.
