EXPECTANT MOTHERS – DID YOU KNOW?! 🌟

Ultrasound scans are a crucial part of prenatal care, helping to monitor the health and development of your baby throughout pregnancy. According to WHO guidelines and standard practice in Kenya, it is recommended that you have 3 key ultrasound scans during your pregnancy:

🤰 1st Scan: 6 – 14 Weeks (1½ - 3½ Months)
Why It’s Important:
✅ Confirm pregnancy dating
✅ Check for early fetal development
✅ Ensure the baby is growing well inside the womb
✅ Detect heartbeat and confirm viability

🤰 2nd Scan: 18 – 22 Weeks (4½ - 5½ Months)
Why It’s Important:
✅ Detect structural abnormalities
✅ Identify congenital heart defects
✅ Examine the baby’s anatomy – most organs and body parts are now developed
✅ Screen for any major developmental issues

📌 This is the MOST IMPORTANT scan and should NOT be missed!

🤰 3rd Scan: 32 – 36 Weeks (8 – 9 Months)
Why It’s Important:
✅ Monitor baby’s growth and weight
✅ Check baby’s position (head down or breech)
✅ Assess amniotic fluid levels
✅ Helps doctors manually turn the baby if needed (before 34 weeks), avoiding C-section
