The conception of the Lifesaving Association dates back to 1991 when Lifeguards at the YMCA held a meeting at the Nairobi Central YMCA Branch under the guidance of Job Kania and Teddy Wamunyu, then, the Lifesaving Instructors of the YMCA Lifesaving Programme. Training programs:
BAS – Basic Aquatic Safety
JFC – Junior Lifesaver Course
AAS –advance Aquatic Safety
SNL- Senior National Lifesaving In Pool, Open Water Surf, Inland Lifeguarding
BM – Bronze Medallion – Rlss Commonwealth (royal Lifesaving Society)
LD- Lifesaving Diploma
BSD – Basic Scuba Diving Course (open Water Diver (CMAS*)
ASD –advanced Scuba Diving Course (national Rescue Diver (CMAS**)
SIC – Swimming Instructor Level One Course
ASIC- Advanced Swimming Instructor Level Two Course
HPC – High Performance Coaching Level Three Course
CD – Coaching Diploma
FA/BLF- First Aid Course /basic Life Support
PM – Pool Management Course
LTS – Learn To Swim
CT – Competitive Training
IC – Lifeguard Instructor Course
SA- Skill Assessor Course
TO – Technical Officiating Course
RBD – Rescue Boat Driver
AED = Automated External Defibrillation
