Rapha Community Health Care

Rapha Community Health Care Rapha Community Health Care is a united, non-racial, non-ethical and non profit making voluntary community-based organization.

Currently situated in Nairobi's Dagoretti District, and operating within Nairobi County as a regional organization with local branches, our driving aspiration is embedded in the shared spirit of making essential maternal, child and adolescent health care accessible to all in the community at an affordable and cost effective price(s), and geared towards self-reliance and self-determination. This is based on practical, scientifically sound, and socially acceptable methods and technologies that are accessible, acceptable, affordable and appropriate. In the same will, we aim at shifting the emphasis of health care to the people themselves and their needs through reinforcing and strengthening their own capacity. Our Motto is: “Better health for all.”
Our Mission is: "to provide quality and affordable curative, preventive and promotive health care services to the community in order to improve the general population’s quality of life and productivity”. our Vision is: “to become a model, first-rate regional community based organization in the provision of quality and affordable maternal, child and adolescent health care services”. Our mission and vision are core-driven by the millennium development goals numbers 4, 5 and 6 which address reducing child mortality, improving maternal health and combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases; as well as the Kenya vision 2030 which addresses health care through the social pillar.

Hello dear ones,
There has been info that Covid-19 could also be air borne. The World Health Organization (WHO) is working on confirming that as a fact or not. Be it so or otherwise, we know that the virus first lodges in the naso-pharyngeal mucosa (area behind the nostril before the wind pipe) where it multiplies bla bla bla.
In addition to what we said earlier, this is one more thing you can do in the spirit of prevention: REGULAR RINSING OF THE THROAT BY GARGLING WITH SALT WATER.
You can gurgle every time before you leave the house to the public (when you must) and upon returning to the house.
This is what to do:
1. Dilute some salt in a glass of water
2. Lift your head back, allowing the salt water to bathe the area of your throat
3. Open your mouth slightly and gargle with the salt water
4. Spit out after a few seconds
5. Repeat this process 3-5 times

Salt water has been shown to have the ability to kill microorganisms on the throat (both viruses and bacteria), thus achieving the purpose of preventing not only corona virus but other respiratory tract infection (s).

This method was recommended among medical students and health workers in one of the Asian countries during the SARS outbreak by Zhong Nashan, and proved to be pretty effective.

It is simple, effective and easy to do; but it should be CONSISTENT.

Yours truly,
BRV.

The distance between you and the dreaded covid-19 is observing good personal hand hygiene and keeping your hands off your face. SIMPLE right.
It's however amazing how SIMPLE THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS EASY.
- Ideally wash your hands with soap and running water and also use alcohol based hand sanitizer
- Sanitize your hands and surfaces regularly if serving people
- Cover your mouth and nose when caughing and sneezing using disposable tissue
- Boost your immunity by eating a healthy balanced diet, fruits and vegetables; don't get stressed out (not good for the body's immune system)
- Take lots of water, at least 2 litres a day

Finally do not panic. Do what you must do, and pray also. For it is written:
Psalms 127:1 (KJV)
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

So, no matter what we do, it takes the Hand of God to keep us in good health.
It takes the hand of God for us to overcome.
Shalom
