Kenya is Africa’s Avocado King!
Morocco may have gained ground in exports to Europe due to logistical challenges Kenya faced last year — but the bigger picture tells a different story.
Kenya’s avocado hectarage has expanded beyond 36,000 hectares, compared to Morocco’s approximately 12,000 hectares. When you consider total export markets — including Kenya’s strong and growing trade with the UAE and other global destinations — Kenya continues to lead in overall avocado exports and industry development.
Even more exciting is the rapid transformation of Kenya’s avocado sector through diversification and value addition:
Kenya has nearly tripled avocado oil exports in the past year, approaching 30,000 Metric Tonnes.Over 50 avocado oil processing plants are now operational across the country. Kenya has evolved into a regional processing hub, trucking and crushing fruit from across East Africa, New guacamole processing facilities are coming online, expanding product diversification. Investment in frozen avocado processing plants is accelerating, strengthening Kenya’s position in global value-added markets.
This is the evolution of Kenya’s avocado industry — moving beyond fresh exports into processing, innovation, and regional leadership.
Kenya is not just exporting avocados. We are building a complete ecosystem that supports farmers, exporters, processors, investors, and global trade partners.
