Kalyet Afya Foundation (KAF) is a community membership foundation rooted in commitment towards advancing the promotion and optimal quality strengthening of preventive healthcare services, environmental governance and viable economic empowerment options in the 5 counties. Kalyet Afya Foundation (KAF) together with partners and voluntary and self-organized multidisciplinary team members including- C

ommunity Health Volunteers (CHVs), Peer Educators (PE), Back Pack Nurses, Community Interest Groups, and healthcare professionals who are partners and include- referral health centers, dispensaries, outreach clinics, County government- health departments, Ministry of health and Ministry of Education, work with vulnerable, marginalized and disadvantaged community groups through eﬀective knowledge transfer, advocacy to achieve political commitment and action and innovative approaches. 📸 Behind the Scenes: Backpack Nursing in Action!

During one of our recent Backpack Nursing visits, our dedicated Lab Technologist was hard at work in the field bringing essential diagnostic services directly to underserved communities. 🧪🩺

At Kalyet Afya Foundation, we believe that access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services should never be limited by geography. Through this mobile approach, we are able to screen, test, and support individuals; especially women and youth in remote areas, ensuring no one is left behind.

🎉 Exciting News from Molo! 🎉
We have officially launched the Hairdressing to Improve Women's Livelihood Project in Matumaini Village, Molo Sub-County! 💇🏽‍♀️💅🏾✨

Five incredible women have begun their journey through a 6-month intensive training in hairdressing, hair cutting, nail care, and beauty therapy — all made possible through the generous support of BOOK4LIFE and iMPACT Direct Foundation. 🌍💖

With guidance from a professional trainer, these women will not only gain practical beauty skills but also receive training in financial literacy and business management. The program includes forming a self-help group to foster sustainability and mutual support.

Their joy was infectious on Day 1 — a clear sign that this is more than just a project; it’s a path to self-reliance, dignity, and empowerment. 💪🏾💼💕

We have raised 77% of the funds needed to launch a powerful initiative with Kalyet Afya Foundation, and we are almost there.

With your support, 5 young women will receive professional training in beauty therapy and hairdressing, gaining essential skills in:
💇🏾 Hairdressing
💅 Nail techniques
🌿 Skincare and facial treatment
✨ Eyelash & eyebrow styling
💼 Plus: Entrepreneurship and customer service training

After 6 months, each woman will launch her own beauty shop and offer home-based services, creating sustainable income and new hope for themselves and their families.

We are excited to share that we are fast approaching our BBC Radio 4 Charity Appeal.

Our appeal will be broadcast on July 13th and through the week afterwards. It will also be available on BBC Sounds so you can listen whenever you can!

Our appeal is presented by friend of CHASE Africa, Grammy and BRIT award winning singer . Joss will be telling you about one of our fantastic Backpack Nurses, Judith Adienge, who regularly travels to reach remote rural communities to provide access to healthcare and information.

We really wanted Joss to present our appeal as she has been a long-standing supporter of CHASE Africa and has just given birth to her 4th child, so she’s an amazing advocate of our work.

We were thrilled to be part of the CHASE Africa Partners Conference, hashtag
hashtag . As Kalyet Afya Foundation, we believe that creative approaches are key to making conversations around population, health, and environment more relatable and impactful — and this experience proved exactly that. 🌿💬
The use of interactive theater was nothing short of powerful. Watching participants become part of the story — weaving connections, roleplaying nature, and engaging in the land division activity — reminded us how storytelling can break barriers and spark real understanding.

✨ Seeing partners connect family size to resource availability in such a visual, emotional way reinforced why we do this work. The “Magic Gourd” story especially brought out deep reflection and joy — showing that even serious issues can be explored with creativity and fun.

👏 Huge thanks to CHASE Africa for bringing together partners committed to building healthier communities and a thriving planet. We’re proud to be part of this movement!

A man walked into the clinic carrying his child, with his wife by his side. They were there for the child’s antenatal care (ANC) visit. His presence showed active participation in his family’s health—not just as a supporter, but as a father eager to learn and be involved.

Male involvement in maternal and child health creates space for shared learning and responsibility. When men attend clinic visits, they gain knowledge, strengthen family bonds, and help improve health outcomes. This father’s presence turned a simple visit into a step toward a healthier, more connected family.

At KAF our mission is to sensitize, educate and provide family planning and healthcare services to rural communities.
As part of our commitment to improving health services access, we recently held a community health outreach at Lagwenda Kuresoi north sub-county, where residents received a wide range of vital services, including
 Child immunization
 Cervical cancer screening
 Family planning services
 HIV testing and counselling
 General health care check up
 Health education on reproductive health
We are proud to walk alongside rural communities, ensuring they receive the care, knowledge and support they need to lead healthier lives.
