A lot of mothers believe these very important tablets are given to them just as a formality. Someone even asked me how women were surviving back then when there were no IFAS. I usually call that ignorance.

IFAS should be taken immediately you realise that you are pregnant according to the ministry of health guidelines, till the time you deliver and even after delivery if need be.

I however recommend that people should start taking it when the idea of getting pregnant comes into your mind. Start taking them as you try to get pregnant.

These tablets supplement your body with folate and iron which is very important in the development of your baby ESPECIALLY IN THE FIRST TRIMESTER( first 3 months of pregnancy)

These pills that some moms refuse to take prevent congenital or birth defects affecting the brain, spinal cord and the spine.

The most common of these defects are the spina bifida(spinal cord) and anencephaly (brain- where the brain and skull does not fully develop or the skull is empty.

It pains me to see a mother coming to start her antenatal clinic at 6 or 7 months, as they smile trying to cook a lie on why they never started early.

The implantation and the development of your baby is very important and is directly proportional to what you will deliver after 9 months.

Even cows get checked by veterinary doctors when they are pregnant. How a human being stays home like a wild animal without going for antenatal care shocks me. That's someone who lacks seriousness.
