You have been feeding your partner raw meat, for reasons well known to you (πππ).
You donβt even want to add chocolate or strawberry flavour to spice things up (πππ β IFYKYK).
They say D***x is the best brand⦠but you said nah, raw is raw.
Now imagine this.
You accidentally discover that your partner is on ARVs.
They have never disclosed this to you and have been taking their medication secretly.
At that moment, your world flips.
Your stomach starts running.
Your mind begins racing.
Your heart pounds.
Dark thoughts creep in β even suicidal ones.
Pause right there.
Hold your breath.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Once you have confirmed that the drugs are indeed ARVs, go to the hospital immediately and request an HIV test.
π§ͺ Understanding the results
If your partner has been:
taking their ARVs faithfully,
attending clinic appointments, and
has an undetectable viral load,
then medically speaking:
Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U).
This means they cannot transmit HIV to you s*xually.
In this situation, your HIV test will most likely come back negative
However, if your partner has been:
defaulting on medication,
skipping doses, or
has a detectable viral load,
then HIV can be transmitted, especially through raw s*x.
β
If your HIV test is negative
If you test HIV-negative after possible exposure:
You will be started on PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis)
PEP must be taken daily for 28 days
The earlier itβs started (within 72 hours), the more effective it is
After completing PEP:
Test again at 6 weeks
Retest at 3 months
If all results remain negative β you are safe.
π Do you dump your partner?
That decision is personal.
There is no right or wrong answer.
If you feel betrayed, unsafe, or unable to rebuild trust β walking away is valid.
Butβ¦
If you believe you are meant for each other,
if the love is real,
and they are truly irreplaceable β
you may choose to stay.
Yes, you can still date them.
Yes, you can still enjoy raw meat π.
But this time β with knowledge and protection.
π Ongoing prevention options
If you remain in a relationship with an HIV-positive partner, you should start:
PrEP β Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis
Taken once daily for life, or until you break up with your partner ( whichever happens first).
Highly effective when used correctly
Protects HIV-negative partners long-term
Safe to use even if your partner is undetectable
π New HIV prevention options
Recently, newer methods have been introduced:
Lenacapavir (long-acting injectable prevention)
Given as an injection twice per year.
