Between the age of 1- 1.5years old children tend to like colouring or scribbling the walls with pencils or crayons. What is your usual reaction as a parent who has heavily invested in painting the walls clean? Many parents discourage their children to a point of beating them up for making their walls dirty.

However, it is important to note that that is a key developmental milestone that needs to be natured in readiness to future success in learning (writing) and participating in Activities of Daily Ling (ADL). It is a key stage for emerging literacy.

Our greatest advice is that you facilitate by providing materials and resources instead of denying them a chance to explore their skills. How often do the visitors come to your house to see the clean walls? Is it at the expense of your child who will stay with you for life?

Allow your baby to self explore their world with minimal restrictions.
