CELEBRATING A LIFE WELL LIVED

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Dr. Peter Munyua - the 1st Chief Officer, Health Services, Nyeri County, and current Medical Superintendent, Karatina Hospital.

As a department, we have lost a dedicated soldier and passionate health manager whose service and leadership touched many lives.

We kindly ask that you keep his family in your prayers and support them during this painful period of loss.

May the Almighty grant Dr. Munyua’s soul eternal rest.

Family and Friends are meeting daily for prayers at his home in Ring Road Estate Nyeri starting from 4pm.

Today we are hosting a team from Kerugoya County Referral Hospital who are here on a bench marking tour of our ICU.
The team is doing this in preparation of operationalization of an ICU in their hospital.
Their team was led by their hospital manager Annette Njeri and the hospital Anaesthesiologist Dr Bancy Njoki.
Our Medical superintendent Dr Benson Ngari accompanied by members of the Hospital Management team were on standby to respond to their questions.
We wish them well as they endeavour to delve into offering critical care to patients as this will make the services more accessible and timely to those who need them.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Visits Nyeri County Referral Hospital

Nyeri County Referral Hospital was honored to host Her Excellency Susan Burns, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Kenya, during her official visit to the facility.

The visit highlighted the strong partnership between the County Government of Nyeri and the United States Government through PEPFAR and CDC support. Through the CDC–Nyeri CHMT Twaweza Program, the hospital continues to strengthen HIV prevention, care, and treatment services.

Nyeri County is a beneficiary of the first Government-to-Government U.S. CDC grant awarded in 2020. The program, which began in Kieni West Sub-County, has now expanded to all eight sub-counties and currently supports 15,805 clients on Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) across 38 sites - including Nyeri County Referral Hospital.

The hospital leadership appreciated the continued support, which has greatly improved the quality of care and health outcomes for the people of Nyeri.

Nyeri County Referral hospital is undergoing significant renovations, including upgrading our corridors to terrazzo standards. These improvements are not just about aesthetics, they are about creating a safer, more accessible, and more efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Smooth, durable terrazzo corridors will enhance mobility for patients and caregivers, reduce maintenance interruptions, and improve infection control. By ensuring easier movement of stretchers, wheelchairs, and medical equipment, these upgrades will directly contribute to faster response times, smoother patient transfers, and more effective service delivery across departments.
As a leading referral and teaching hospital in Central Kenya, we are committed to excellence in both infrastructure and care. These renovations reflect our dedication to providing world-class facilities that match the quality of our medical expertise. Every improvement is designed to strengthen our ability to deliver timely, compassionate, and comprehensive care to all who walk through our doors.
