This morning,on 9th April,2025 and led by our Medical Superintendent Dr Charles Muthua De'rangle we held a staff meeting. This meeting was conducted differently as we took time to hear from the various students we have in our facility; to get feedback on their experience and how we can be better in their training. We have students from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology , various KMTC campuses, Outspan College among others. Our medical superintendent took time to remind the staff about the importance of self care; Care for the Carer. We were reminded that we're not helpful to our clients when we're not well. Today, on 19th March,2026, We held our first Breastfeeding Club that entailed comprehensive health education sessions covering key areas of maternal and reproductive health. Topics included cervical cancer screening, emphasizing the importance of early detection and regular check ups. Susan Nguyo,our MCH nurse led a session on breast examination, demonstrating proper self examination techniques and highlighting early warning signs.
Nancy Maina Deputy nursing officer discussed various family planning methods, helping participants understand available options and make informed choices. John Kaindi our Nutritionist facilitated a session on nutrition and breastfeeding, focusing on proper maternal nutrition and the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. Jane Nderi our Maternity Incharge covered labour and delivery, preparing expectant mothers on what to expect and the importance of skilled care.
The session concluded with closing remarks from the Nurse Manager, Madam Irene, who appreciated the participants and encouraged continued use of health services. She assured the clients of our commitment to ensure safe pregnancy, delivery, motherhood at large and thriving of all babies. We welcome you to benefit from our services. Did you know that The Nyeri County Ambulance Dispatch Center is located at Mt.Kenya Sub-County Hospital- Nyeri County. ? It's a center that's able to geo-locate and monitor our county ambulances, receive calls from first responders or patients in need of emergency medical care, give instructions on the first aid that can be given before the medical personnel arrive in an ambulance and finally dispatch the nearest available ambulance.
