Celebrating Maternity Open Day at Nyeri Town Health Centre!

Today was a truly special day at our facility grounds as we hosted our Maternity Open Day alongside World Patient Safety Day Commemoration.

The community joined us in learning, sharing, and celebrating safe motherhood. Families got to interact with our healthcare team, tour our maternity services, and hear inspiring talks on maternal and newborn care.

Speaking during the event, the Facility In-Charge, Anne Kiragu, highlighted the importance of such forums, noting that they strengthen trust and partnership with the community by showing families they can rely on us for safe, compassionate, and professional care throughout the maternity journey.

Terry Wambui, the Nurse In-Charge of the Maternity Unit also shared her perspective, reminding everyone that every mother deserves dignity, safety, and support during childbirth and reassuring the community of the team’s commitment to ensuring that both mothers and babies leave our hands healthy and smiling.

From informative sessions to heartfelt moments, the day reminded us of the vital role we play in walking with mothers through pregnancy, safe delivery, and beyond.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and made this day unforgettable.

Together, we continue to make motherhood safer and healthier for all.

Heads up, parents and caregivers!

Nyeri County through the Department of Medical Services & Public Health - Nyeri County will be running a nationwide vaccination campaign from July 5th to 14th, 2025. This is your chance to protect your children against measles, rubella, and typhoid.

👉 Measles-Rubella vaccine is for kids aged 9 to 59 months
👉 Typhoid Conjugate vaccine is for those 9 months up to 14 years

Vaccines will be available at schools, community temporary sites, and all GOK, private, and faith-based health facilities that normally offer immunizations.

Let’s keep our children healthy and stop these diseases before they spread.

If you have any questions, visit your nearest health centre or talk to your community health volunteer.

Let’s do this for a stronger, healthier future!

👐 WORLD HAND HYGIENE DAY👐

“It Might Be Gloves. It’s Always Hand Hygiene.”

Today we join the world in marking World Hand Hygiene Day 2025, with a critical reminder from WHO: Gloves are never a substitute for clean hands.

This year’s campaign — SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands — focuses on how proper glove use and hand hygiene go hand-in-hand (literally!) in preventing infections and protecting patients, healthcare workers, and communities.

Why it matters:
• Hand hygiene is one of the simplest, most effective ways to stop the spread of infections.
• Even when wearing gloves, hands can still become contaminated.
• Cleaning your hands before and after glove use is essential.

Let’s commit to clean care, every moment, every patient, every time.

👉🏽 Tag a colleague or friend to remind them: clean hands save lives!
