Oranges

Scientific name: Citrus sinensis.

Delicious and juicy orange fruit contains an impressive list of essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals for normal growth and development and overall well-being. Orange is a tropical to semitropical, evergreen, small flowering tree, growing to about 5 to 8 m tall, and bears seasonal fruits that measure about 3 inches in diameter and weigh about 100-150 g. Oranges are classified into two general categories, sweet and bitter

SCIATICA CONDITIONS:

WHY ARE YOU LIMPING OR HAVING THAT CHRONIC LOWER BACK PAIN?

Let’s explore…
WHAT IS SCIATICA?
Sciatica refers to chronic pain that spread along the the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. Typically, sciatica affects only one side of your body.

GENERAL SIGNS:
*The pain may be constant or may come and go.
*The pain may spread to strictly one of your lower limbs.
*The pain may feel worse if you sit or stand for long periods of time, when you stand up and when your twist your upper body.

GENERAL CAUSES:

1:Disc conditions associated with sciatica:
The discs act as shock absorbers between the bones of our spine and are designed to help the back stay flexible while we change positions or are in motion. When the discs are damaged, the resulting pain gets worse during periods of inactivity like when sitting or standing for a long time, and also when bending or twisting.

It tends to get better when walking or running. Extreme pain, numbeness and tingling may come and go for a few days or months.
2: A herniated or slipped disk that causes pressure on a nerve root: Pressure from vertebrae can cause the gel-like center of a disk to bulge (herniate) through a weakness in its outer wall, eventually pressing on the sciatic nerve.
3:Spinal stenosis – this is the abnormal narrowing of the spinal canal. This narrowing reduces the available space for the spinal cord and nerves.
Osteoarthritis/Spondylosis – Bone spurs (jagged edges of bone) can form in aging spine and compress lower back nerves.
4:Degenerative disc disease – The most common cause of back/neck pain is degeneration of the discs. Degenerative disk disease is the natural wear down of the disks between vertebrae of the spine. The wearing down of the disks shortens their height and leads to the nerve passageways becoming narrower, pinching the sciatic nerve roots as they leave the spine.
Lower back (Lumbar spine) pain may radiate into the buttock, hip and thighs when nerves are involved while the upper back (cervical spine) pain, radiates to the shoulder blades.

OTHER CAUSES OF SCIATICA:
1:Trauma injury to the lumbar spine or sciatic nerve.
2:Piriformis syndrome –Piriformis syndrome is a rare neuromuscular disorder in which your piriformis muscle involuntarily contracts or tightens, causing sciatica.
3:Vitamin B12 deficiency – Vitamin B12 helps in synthesizing the fatty (myelin) sheath that covers the nerves, which is important in nerve function and conduction of impulses.
Sciatica may occur due to vitamin B12 deficiency and may be more common in elderly people, above 60 years of age. Diabetic individuals who are treated with metformin may also be at risk of vitamin B12 deficiency due to malabsorption.
Risk factors
5:Age. Age-related changes in the spine, such as herniated disks and bone spurs
6:Obesity. Excess body weight can contribute to the spinal changes that trigger sciatica.
7:Occupation. A job that requires you to twist your back, carry heavy loads or drive a motor vehicle for long periods
Prolonged sitting
8:Diabetes. This condition, which affects the way your body uses blood sugar, increases your risk of nerve damage.

SYMPTOMS OF SCIATICA :

~The pain can vary widely, from a mild ache to a sharp, burning sensation or excruciating pain. Sometimes it can feel like a jolt or electric shock
~Moderate to severe pain in lower back, buttock and down your leg.
~Numbness or weakness in your lower back, buttock, leg or feet.
“Pins and needles” feeling in your legs, toes or feet.

WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT IT?

Have you been diagnosed with sciatica, degenerative disc disease of the back, bulging or herniated discs?Do you suspect that this is what is creeping in on you?

(A): Degenerative diseases are also genetic. If you have it in the family, we pray that it doesn’t find it’s way to you but it’s wise that you take preventative measures.

These conditions tend to get worse over time. Mild cases are easier to treat while it’s still early, so take action. Don’t wait.

(B):Exercising to strengthen the muscles around the affected joint, providing it with greater support and helping it stay healthy.
(C):Weight loss for those who are overweight, is one thing you can do to improve symptoms and even slow progression.

(D):Massage therapy:
Appropriate and related Physiotherapy can stimulate blood flow and make a stressed area become more warm and relaxed.(NB.THERE ARE APPROPRIATE EXERCISES THAT CAN TREAT SCIATICA,NOT ANY EXERCISE OR PHYSIOTHERAPY)

(E):Eating anti- inflammatory foods like whole grains, fish and other healthy fats. Turmeric with black pepper is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory as well.
Taking food supplements that help to build back the cartilage and discs. This in turn helps to cure sciatica nerve pain.
Food supplements? Which food supplements?
The most effective supplements for repairing damaged, bulging, degenerated or herniated discs so far, are high strength Collagen with Magnesium, and Glucosamine Chondroitin.

WHAT IS AN UNDESCENDED TESTICLE?

In the last few months of a pregnancy, a baby goes through all kinds of changes. The eyes open wide, the bones fully form, and weight gain ramps up. For boys, it’s also when the testicles move from the lower belly to the sc***um, that pouch of skin below the p***s.

But sometimes, one or both testicles don’t fall into place. That’s called an undescended testicle. It can happen to any baby boy, but it’s more common for those born earlier than expected.

More often than not, the testicle drops into the sc***um on its own by the time the baby is 6 months old. If it doesn’t, the child will likely need surgery.

WHAT CAUSES IT?

Doctors aren’t sure why it happens. They think it’s related to genes, the mother’s health, and outside influences that change how hormones and nerves normally work.

Even though the cause isn’t clear, certain factors might make an undescended testicle more likely:

1: An earlier-than-expected birth
2: Family history of them or other problems with how ge****ls develop
3: Health conditions, such as Down syndrome, that affect how a fetus grows
4: Low birth weight
5: Contact by the parents with certain chemicals (pesticides) that kill bugs -- these are often used on farms
6: It may also be more likely if the mother:
has DIABETES (type 1, type 2, or gestational)
Is obese
SMOKED CI******ES or drank ALCOHOL during pregnancy.
How Do I Know There’s a Problem?
The main sign: You can’t see or feel the testicle in the sc***um. When both are undescended, the sc***um looks flat and smaller than you’d expect it to be.

Some boys have what’s called a retractile testicle. It may move up into their groin when they are cold or scared but moves back down on its own. It’s generally not a problem. The difference is that an undescended testicle stays up -- it doesn’t move back and forth.

DIAGNOSIS:

In most cases, your doctor finds the problem as part of a regular check-up soon after birth.

If your doctor thinks there’s a problem, they may try to rule out other causes, such as:

ECTOPIC TESTICLES: This is a similar condition where the testicles don’t fall into place. Your doctor can check for this as part of a physical exam.

RETRACTILE TESTICLES: Your doctor will see if they can gently move the testicle into the sc***um with their hand. If they can do that, then it’s a retractile testicle.

WHAT PROBLEMS CAN IT CAUSE?

An undescended testicle is related to a number of conditions:

1:FERTILITY PROBLEMS:

Because s***m need to be a little cooler than the rest of the body, an undescended testicle can cause fertility issues. This is more of a problem when both are lodged in the groin. Early treatment can make a big difference.

2:HERNIA:

This is a condition where part of the intestine bulges through the muscles of the lower belly.

3:INJURY:

When the testicle is out of place, it’s more likely to be damaged.

4:CANCER:

Men who have an undescended testicle are a little more likely to get testicular cancer, even if they have surgery to treat it. But surgery makes routine self-exams possible, so if cancer does appear, it can be found early.

5:TESTICULAR TORSION:

This is when the cord that carries semen to the p***s gets twisted up. It’s painful and can cut off blood flow to the testicle.

TREATMENT:

Very often, the testicle moves into place within a few months. At first, you’ll want to wait and see how things go with regular check-ups. If it doesn’t drop into the sc***um by 6 months, your doctor will likely suggest surgery.

Surgery is the most common treatment, and it almost always works. It’s usually done when the baby is 6-12 months old to get the most benefit. Early treatment can lower the chances that your boy will have problems with fertility later in life.

An undescended testicle can also be treated with hormones. This isn’t the typical treatment though. It usually doesn’t work as well as surgery, and there may be side effects.
