WHEN THE CHURCH BECOMES A BUSINESS

1) Pastors function like CEOs
2) Members are turned into customers
3) Other churches are seen as competitors.
4) Evangelism is reduced to marketing
5) Church planting looks more like franchising
6) Numbers are primary measure of success
7) Prayer and Word study are replaced by formulas
8) Revival is reduced to a few days fund-raising program
9) Preaching sounds more like motivational speech. All the people do is shout "I receive, Amen," throughout the concert. I mean the "service".
10) Praise and Worship is turned into a performance. The best actors are made the worship and praise leaders.
11) The Spirit of God is reduced to "emotionalism". No real power of God other than hypnosis and sensationalism.
12) The saints are entertained instead of equipped
13) Disciples of Christ have become papa's sons, daughters and fans.
14) The Church, a living Body has now become a lifeless body
15) A leader's empire is built instead of the Kingdom of God advanced
16) The pastor becomes the super man and Jesus Christ reduced to just another religious figure.

Does any one of these sound farmiliar in this generation? Beloved, if you are under these pattern of "christianity" you are already in a cult, not the Church of Jesus Christ. Get out before it is too late!!!

Doesn't it shock you that a newly pastor starts a church from humble beginnings, overnight the guy buys prime land.builds a bungalow buys his dream car and overhauls his clothing .without asking for help or funds drive and after this, he now comes to members forms a committee to plan and execute a funds drive to build God a house.

I long for the day when we will allow God to use us unlike now when we are busy using God. All I have highlighted above is exactly what made Jesus himself to ask, "When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith in the Earth?" (Luke 18.8).

DISCLAIMER. this was not posted with anyone in mind but if the shoe fits please wear it.

When I read the bible,l love when God asks questions. He doesn't ask for Himself. He already know the answer. He ask us because He wants us to understand and get it. He asked Adam(Where are you?). Sometimes we don't realize where we are in life and it takes the voice of God to remind us. Asked Moses: What is that in your hand? Many times the very blessing we need is already in our grasp. Asked Ezekiel:Can these bones live? Sometimes you May think a situation in your life has died BUT God is reminding you that it can live.It is not Dead.It is not over. Asked Abraham:Is there anything hard too hard for God? Think about that as you are going through life this morning.Dont worry/ care what it look like. There is nothing too hard for God to do.Nothing is impossible with Him. God bless you my friends.

In the jungle,
The biggest animal is the Elephant,
The tallest is the Giraffe,
The wisest is the Fox,
The fastest is the Cheetah.

But besides all those wonderful qualities the Lion is the KING of the jungle even without ANY of them.!!

*Why??*

Because...

The Lion is courageous,

The Lion is very bold,

The Lion is always ready to face any challenges and barriers that cross its path, no matter how big/bad they are.!!

The Lion walks with confidence. The Lion dares anything and is never afraid. The Lion believes he is unstoppable. The Lion is a risk taker. The Lion believes any animal is food for it. The Lion believes any opportunity is worth giving a try and never lets it slip from its hands. The Lion has charisma.!!

*So...*

- What is it that we get to learn from the Lion ??

• You don't need to be the fastest!

• You don't need to be the wisest!

• You don't need to be the smartest!

• You don't need to be the most brilliant!

• You don't need to be generally accepted to achieve your dreams and be great in life.!!

• All you need is *courage*

• All you need is *boldness*

• All you need is the will to try.

• All you need is the faith to believe it is possible.

• All you need is to believe in yourself, that *you can* do it.!!

It's TIME to bring out the Lion in you..!!

"Face the terrible, face it boldly"

*Phillipians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.*

Despise not the Power of Prayer

The only Thing that Jabez held on tight too in his life to be able to CROSSOVER into His DESTINY was PRAYER.He was not Born in a Christian Home.He did not enjoy a LUXURIOUS upbringing. The Prayer He prayed REVEALED his Condition of his heart and His Sorrow.

Long Before Psalms 102:17 was written that the LORD will pay ATTENTION to the prayer of the Destitute and will not despise or reject their prayer.Jabez had REACHED his END, His heart was broken, His days were not Productive. He was Destitute. The only SOLUTION was to Pray.

Prayer is what CONNECTED him into His Destiny. The moment He prayed the ATMOSPHERE of pain and sorrow that had surrounded him was immediately CRUSHED.DIVINE FAVOR was released. The Bible says in 1 Chronicles 4:10 And God granted him that which he requested.

The set time to FAVOR YOU has come!Don’t be afraid to Pray and don’t loose heart.Pour your Heart, Pain and Sorrows. The generations to come will magnify your God saying And God granted His,Her REQUESTS.

Be completely soaked in his Presence and let His peace fill you.

I think this is talking about you big bro.

A strong man knows how to keep his life in order. Even with tears in his eyes, he can still say 'I'm fine' with a smile. I'll send it to you because you're a strong man. That's why God heard your prayers and said the hard times are over. If you believe in him, send it to ten men, including me.

GOD IS MAKING A WAY WHERE THERE APPEARS TO BE NO WAY...

The Red Sea was Israel’s impossibility. It looked like a barrier to their promise of freedom, but it was God’s opportunity to perform a miracle for all to see, including their enemies.

He showed Israel’s enemies that He, God Almighty was not only for them and with them, but He already had a path prepared for them.

Regardless of how high your sea may be today, or how rough the water, or even how strong the wind may blow, God is making a a way in His time when there seems to be no way!

Be still and see the salvation of The Lord.

POWERLESS

Today’s Word

The routine of our daily lives often reminds us of our lack of control. We stand in a slow line at the grocery store waiting for a cashier-in-training. Our car breaks down on the way to work. We wait over a weekend to learn the results of a medical test. Our coworker gets promoted, while we continue to wait for recognition.
In our attempts to deal with our lack of control, we worry about the details in our lives, pretend that it just doesn’t matter, or we become angry and resentful. We may isolate ourselves from other people to keep the pain at a distance. Many of us try in one way or another to control our circumstances and the people around us.
Some of us are too proud to admit that certain areas of our lives have become unmanageable. This pride can undermine our faith, cut us off from God and prevent us from recognizing our own powerlessness. In this mode we refuse to allow ourselves to reach out for help. Stories we encounter in the news distress us. We hear about a man who left his three-year-old son in a car when it was 35 degrees outside. The man was visiting a strip club! Outraged, we ask ourselves, “Why doesn’t this father get help for his struggle with sexual addiction?” Meanwhile, we’re attempting to escape our own pain through the repeated cycle of overeating and dieting. Like the father visiting the strip club, we refuse to admit our own struggle or reach out for help.
By facing our powerlessness and admitting our weaknesses, we invite God to step in to change our lives. After hearing a testimony at a Celebrate Recovery conference, a pastor approached the speakers, saying, “I want to tell you some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that I’ve been struggling with my pride. Your testimony made it clear to me that I’m a codependent who is powerless over my issues and that I need recovery. The good news is that I’m going back to my church to start a Celebrate Recovery program. My prayer is that our church can reach out and help people deal with their hurts, hang-ups and habits.”

We need to take some actions :

1. Stop denying the pain. Psalm 6:2–3 describes a time in David’s life when he came to the end of his emotional and physical resources: “Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, LORD, how long?” When David’s pain finally surpassed his fear, he was able to face his denial and feel the reality of his agony. In the same way, if we want to be rid of our pain, we need to face it and work our way through it.
2. Stop playing God. The simple truth is that we’re either going to serve God or ourselves. We can’t do both. In the words of Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” When our “self” is out of control, all our attempts at control—of ourselves or others—will fail. We need to admit that we’re not God and that we’re powerless without him. Then, when we’ve finally emptied ourselves, God will have room to come in and begin his healing work.
3. Start admitting our powerlessness. Our lust for power isn’t rooted in our strengths but in our weaknesses. We need to recognize our human limitations and quit trying to resolve the issues by ourselves. We need to admit that we’re powerless and be willing to turn over our lives to God. Jesus knew how difficult this would be for us to do. Matthew 19:26 sums up the situation for us, recording Jesus’ own words: “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
4. Start admitting that our lives have become unmanageable. With this admission we finally acknowledge that we’re out of control and powerless to change on our own. David shared his feelings in Psalm 40:12: “Troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me.

Sweet-Smelling Incense

Today’s Scripture

Each evening when [the priest] tends to the lamps, he must again burn incense in the Lord’s presence. This must be done from generation to generation. Do not offer any unholy incense on this altar, or any burnt offerings, grain offerings, or drink offerings.Exodus 30:8-9

Today’s Word

The priests in the Old Testament nurtured the tender flame—symbolic of the prayers of the children of Israel—to make sure the fire didn’t smolder and die. They burned only special incense on the altar so that the continual sweet fragrance wafted before God. Today we no longer have to burn candles or incense when we come into God’s presence because we can freely fellowship with him anywhere. Yet sometimes we place other things on the altar and allow the busyness of our days to cause our prayer life to smolder. We lose precious one-on-one time with God. When we pray, we connect with the Lord and climb into the shelter of his love. It is in our quiet time with God that we seek answers and find guidance. Is daily prayer a part of your life? When you make prayer a priority, you will walk in closeness with the Lord, and his peace will encompass your life. Prayer not only strengthens you, it is also a sweet fragrance before a God who longs to talk with his children.

PRAYER IS A KIND OF CALLING HOME EVERY DAY. AND THERE CAN COME TO YOU A SERENITY, A FEELING OF AT-HOMENESS IN GOD’S UNIVERSE, A PEACE THAT THE WORLD CAN NEITHER GIVE NOR DISTURB, A FRESH COURAGE, A NEW INSIGHT, A HOLY BOLDNESS, THROUGH CALLING HOME THAT YOU’LL NEVER, NEVER GET ANY OTHER WAY.

Today’s Starter Prayer

FATHER, I love the fact that you want to spend time with me. Thank you for our sweet fellowship together. Help me to teach others by my example the importance of daily prayer and fellowship with you. Sometimes I let so many things get in the way of our time together. Today, Lord, I will reserve a portion of my day just for you and me!

I keep reminding myself that I am not a spiritual bastard.Again n again I will honor n declare .. ...In respect to my spiritual father Bishop Harrison K Ng'ang'a,.... I love the way you father me...
The Apostle Paul said in his first letter to the church at Corinth: “Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.” (I Corinthians 4:15, NKJV).
Paul was not the biological father to believers at the Corinthian church, but a spiritual father because he said he became one “through the gospel”.
Neither did he say God was their spiritual father. However, it is important to understand that spiritual fatherhood does not minimise the position and role God has in the believer’s life.
As a Christian, there is no trace of doubt whatsoever that I am a child of God. I have my biological parents, too. But I also have a spiritual father in my pastor.
I listen to sermons from different men of God. I consider them my teachers. But there are not my spiritual fathers. I must have a spiritual father to whom I report.
It is a matter of accountability in the things of the spirit in as far as they relate to my life.
Paul did not have biological children. But a study of his writings reveals beyond doubt that he had several spiritual sons. These included Timothy, Onesimus and Titus (I Timothy 1:2, Phillipians 1:10 and Titus 1:4).
Spiritual fathers are important because they provide guidence and skills where we have limitations.
They challenge us to be the best that we can be. This is a water-tight system that ensures we do the right thing.
In his letter to Philemon, an early wealthy Christian in Colosse, Paul appealed to him to be kind to his servant Onesimus, who had become the apostle’s “son in the faith” while he was in prison (Philemon 1:10-11, NLT).
After becoming his spiritual son, Onesimus would now be more useful to his master.
This implies that as his spiritual father, there was some spiritual wealth Paul would transmit to his new son, which would make him effective and more diligent in serving his master.
In this light, spiritual fathers have a value-adding role to play in the lives and ministries of their spiritual children. In this context, the value that my spiritual father brings into my life must manifest in me and be beneficial in every area of my life: family, marriage, career, business etc.
A spiritual father looks out for his sons.
He ensures their safety, sees to it that all is well with them and defuses whatever landmines may be laid in their paths. As your spiritual father looks out for you, it is his duty to alert you of any impending danger.
Not every believer in a church, however, is a son. The term “son”, as is often used in scripture, is derived from the Greek term huios, which means “a mature son”.
These are those believers who have matured enough to be entrusted with responsibilities.
Because such sons like Titus, have proven themselves and learnt precious lessons from their father, they are able to follow instructions to the letter.
Biological age ceases to be a factor. Timothy was a young man, but was able to deal with issues in the church and fulfill monumental obligations.
Paul admits as much in Titus 1:5 where he left Titus in Crete to iron out issues in the church.
A spiritual father gives instructions which are meant to help the son while spiritual sons learn from experienced and mature spiritual fathers.
The father’s life must be an open book to the son. This will allow the spiritual son to learn beyond what the father says.
There must be an impartation. This is the kind of relationship that existed between Paul and his spiritual sons. He showed the way and allowed the young men to follow in his steps.
This is shown where he said Timothy knew about “teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings — what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch . . .But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it . . . ” (2 Timothy 3: 10-11, 14, NKJV).
One of the ways in which God provides leadership in His kingdom is through spiritual fathers.
A father exhorts and comforts and implores and sometimes chastens when necessary.
Spiritual fathering is the major leadership method for building the body of Christ.

He is Strong in You

Today’s Scripture

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness...”
(Romans 8:26, NLT)

Today’s Word

Sometimes, people get distracted by what they consider to be a disadvantage or weakness in their lives. It may be something about their personality or looks that they don’t like. Or, maybe they’ve been through an unfair situation: a divorce, a bad business deal or a bad break. We all have things that can feel like disadvantages; things that make it harder on us. It may even be a physical handicap, and you can’t get around like you used to. But just because you have a “disadvantage,” just because you’ve been through a tough time doesn’t mean you’re supposed to sit back and settle where you are. God still has something great for you to do! He wants to show Himself strong in and through you, and He’s given you His Holy Spirit to equip you in this life.

Today let the Holy Spirit help you when you feel weak. Let Him empower you with truth that will set you free. Stay in faith and don’t get negative toward yourself or your future. Let God take what you think is a liability and turn it into an asset! Let Him take what you think is a disadvantage and turn it around to be an advantage! Remember, you are more than a conqueror today and every day because He is strong in you!

Today’s Starter Prayer

“Father, today I give You all that I am. I invite You into the weak places in my life so that You can turn them into strengths. Thank You for working in my life and filling me with faith and expectancy in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Pay Them No Mind

Today’s Scripture

"But some scoundrels said, ‘How can this fellow save us?’ They despised him and brought him no gifts. But Saul kept silent."
(1 Samuel 10:27, NIV)

Today’s Word

In Scripture, King Saul had some people come against him. They were making fun of him. He could have easily become distracted and lost his focus. He could have defended himself saying, “I’m a good leader. I have what it takes.” But what did he do? He kept silent. One translation says, “He paid them no mind.”

Sometimes that’s what you have to do when people are coming against you. You have to realize that some people are just jealous. Not everyone is going to have your best interest at heart. But don’t let them control your destiny. Don’t let them distract you from God’s best. Instead of playing up to people or trying to win over all your critics, keep your eyes focused on what God has for you. Spend time with people who see what God is doing in you. Focus on those who will celebrate you. Ignore the critics so you can be all that God has called you to be.

Today’s Starter Prayer

"Father, today I keep my heart and mind focused on You. I choose to ignore the naysayers. I choose to turn away from critical voices. I declare by faith that I will accomplish the plan You have for me as I daily put You first in everything that I do in Jesus’ name. Amen."

A New Route

Today’s Scripture

"Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion."
(Psalm 103:4, NIV)

Today’s Word

When God puts a dream or a promise on the inside of you, He deposits within you everything you need to accomplish it. He wouldn’t give you the desire to do something without giving you the ability to fulfill it. In fact, the scripture tells us that God gives us the desires of our heart. In other words, He puts the desire inside of us and then works with us to bring it to pass.

Oftentimes, people set out to accomplish their dreams, but they face a setback or disappointment, and then they feel like their time has passed. But know this: no matter where you’ve come from, no matter what’s happened in your past, God wants to make you new. He wants to give you a fresh start. If you feel like you’ve missed opportunities in your life, if you feel like your time has passed, remember, today is a new day. You are a new person, and God has new opportunities in store for you!

Today’s Starter Prayer

"Father God, I come humbly before You today. I give You my past, present and future knowing that You will redeem my life. I release those who have hurt me. I choose forgiveness so I can be free to move forward in the new route You have for me in Jesus’ name. Amen."
