KDA Engagement with the Ministry of Health

The Kenya Dental Association (KDA), led by the professional society President, Dr. Kahura Mundia, today met with the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Aden Duale, to discuss and agree on priority actions to strengthen oral healthcare in Kenya.

Key commitments from the meeting included:

•Prioritizing resource allocation for the implementation of the National Oral Health Policy and Strategic Plan.
•Integrating oral health into national frameworks for the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
•Upholding professional standards to protect the public from unethical and unqualified dental practice.
•Expanding equitable access to quality dental services nationwide.
•Establishing an essential oral care package under the Social Health Authority (SHA).
•Investing in university dentistry training infrastructure to address Kenya’s oral disease burden.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to close collaboration and regular progress monitoring, ensuring alignment with the goals of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
